The fact that you have to go to this trouble on a modern day car in 2025 should not be the case
I agree. It does not have to be the case.
I spent the last twenty years as a manager at a vinyl manufacturer which makes the plastics in the Maverick, it’s why I bought the damned thing.
We offered anti-squeak topcoats and cold crack formulations. Dodge/Ram accepted, Ford refused due to cost.

It’s a cheap economical vehicle. We got what we paid for, I have no regrets.

I look forward to your report!
Well you're going to have to wait a while for my report. I ordered the rubber strip today along with some other stuff looks like it's going to be a September 12th delivery. I'm too cheap to be a subscriber to Amazon Prime. I bundle my orders and go with the over $35 free delivery. Overnight delivery is really no benefit when I'm in Utah. Amazon doesn't deliver to my property. I have to drive into Cedar City to pick it up.
To protect myself against credit card fraud.
I buy Amazon gift cards in $200 increments in cash. That I have no credit card on file with anyone.
I do the same with eBay only in $100 increments.

Well, if I can't wait until then (and when you install it), there's really something wrong with me. I admit here are some things where I want instant gratification (ice cream comes to mind), but most of the time, I TRY to be patient (Says the guy who just got the Built notification. Ugh.).

Counterpoint: it's under warranty. It's a workmanship problem. Ford/the dealer should fix it, and fix it and fix it correctly.

My 25 Hybrid XLT developed a rattle around the instrument cluster. I had the dealer correct this around 5k miles. They spent 2 hours and multiple test drives to find and fix it. The manufacturer provides kits of foam blocks and rubber stripping of various sizes and densities for this very purpose.

Horror stories stand out on Reddit and here, but they are not the rule, they are the exception.

While I'm glad this strip solved your problem, it would drive me insane to look at that every time I got in the truck.

I wish. This is going to be a dealer by dealer issue. My dealer has tried to fix it 4 times with almost a 7 days of them having the truck and they finally said "this is normal" and refuse to work on it anymore. I have to go two towns over to find a new dealer i hopes they work on it.

This is not normal.

They've likely given up because they've probably spent more time than Ford has allocated to pay them to fix such problems.

Call the sales manager (not service) and explain that you are "disappointed with the after sales experience" and ask what they can do to help. If that doesn't work, share this experience with every online review site you can think of that lists this specific dealer.

This looked OK but it keeps working it's way out of the gap. I keep having to re-seat it all the time. I'm thinking about going back to the backer rod I was using.

Check Amazon for sure. There are many other sellers of the same rubber seal for much lower price than the BOAOSI.

Got the grommet. Installed. Easy, using principally my fingers. Took short drive and it appears no rattle heard. But think hearing small knocks on larger bumps, dips in the road. Need to drive it more to confirm.

Amazon (The delivery, ad, ordering platform for small businesses) delivered today, couple days early. Here are the results. I got the door weather strip. It installs on the front edge of the rear doors. I hope it keeps out the dust.
I installed the dash strip. You can not see it very well. It may keep stuff from sliding into that area.
A member talked about "backer rod". I looked it up evidently it is some type of air conditioning installation. I had no idea what size to use.

I grabbed one.

My thoughts are that it's not really big enough for the task. The crevice between the dash and windshield is quite deep, if you push it in as far as you can so it fills the void and stays put, it will be well past the dash plastics and not offer much compression to keep rattles and squeaks at bay. I'd consider stuffing in a backer rod first and then this rubber strip over top of that as it looks fairly nice when pressed in. I didn't bother trimming it, just pressed the overhang into the side pillar gaps.

The backer rod idea is brilliant. If you try it, let us know what diameter works.

The problem with backer rod is it will disintegrate with exposure to heat and sun. Let me think, where is the most exposure to sun in my Maverick  That is why it says for use to fill gaps to be caulked. I wouldn't want it turning into dust along my dash. I tired it to seal the gap on the bed rails under my cover. After 2 weeks it was starting to crumble.
I hadn't thought of that. Great point.

Yeah the kit came with what looked like a mini crowbar which I didn't use. Using my fingers was more than enough to get the job done to my satisfaction. Oh boy that sounds suggestive...

If I had pushed it any further down I would have been basically impossible to take off if I wanted to in the future.
Hmmm? Side affect of too much finger?
