Do Mavericks have data recorders?
I asked the same question. The Event Data Recorder should have recorded braking and accelerator inputs before the crash. I don't understand why you would drive a vehicle after a complete brake system failure. I'm a fleet manager and we use vehicle EDR data in many of our accident claims.

Google say cars started having data recorders in the 70's.

I'm content to wait until @OldSarg reports back in--assuming we haven't humiliated him into silence--re: what the dealer, repair center, etc say about the incident.

Nobody is humiliating him. They are offering very real possibilities.

Never once did I, or would I, make fun of or attack a person who had this experience. There was a guy earlier this year whose daughter was driving his Maverick hybrid and the thread went very similarly where he believed that something mechanically failed on the truck. (His was a bit different because he didn't experience it firsthand, but vehemently refused to consider that she made a mistake.)

I've panicked a few times in my life while operating a vehicle. The first time I was 5 years old, and pinned the throttle on my Y-Zinger and it accelerated a lot faster than I expected, and I panicked and kept it pinned straight out of the riding area and across a road. It's happened a lot more recently on a MTB, I've jumped and something didn't go as expected on launch and I just became a passenger until the bike landed and then I somewhat resumed control.

It could happen to anyone. If it happened to me, I would not assume it was a broken truck. I also wouldn't post about it, to be honest.

90's when airbags were installed. Might have been a few exceptions before that.

EVENT DATA

This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder. The main purpose of an event data recorder is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations, such as an airbag deployment or hitting a road obstacle; this data will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s systems performed. The event data recorder is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less.
The event data recorder in this vehicle is designed to record such data as:
  • How various systems in your vehicle were operating.
  • Whether or not the driver and passenger seatbelts were buckled/fastened.
  • How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or the brake pedal.
  • How fast the vehicle was traveling.
  • Where the driver was positioning the steering wheel.
This data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
Note: Event data recorder data is recorded by your vehicle only if a non-trivial crash situation occurs; no data is recorded by the event data recorder under normal driving conditions and no personal data or information (for example name, gender, age, and crash location) is recorded. However, parties, such as law enforcement, could combine the event data recorder data with the type of personally identifying data routinely acquired during a crash investigation.
To read data recorded by an event data recorder, special equipment is required, and access to the vehicle or the event data recorder is needed. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer, other parties, such as law enforcement, that have such special equipment, can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or the event data recorder.

This reminds me of the old Audi 5000 unintended acceleration debacle from the 80's. Never mind the engine can't overcome the brakes, people were convinced their Audi's accelerated with them fully on the brake...even got a 60 min piece on it. All to be proven it was operator error. The driver actually was on the gas pedal and not the brake.
Which is why we now have the brake interlock system which requires you to put your foot on the brake before taking the vehicle out of park.

My wire drives an Audi SUV. It’s programmed to disable the throttle while brakes are applied. I like to left foot brake in tight quarters. Gives more control working the throttle against the brakes. That’s not very possible in an Audi Q7 however. I have to learn to use right foot only. I blame 60 minutes for this.:)

Our County Risk Manager handles the requests for EDR data.

You need a Bosch Data Retrieval tool.

You need a Bosch Crash Data Retrieval tool. An attorney can subpoena a driver's vehicle data. Very useful information that may help prove which driver is at fault. If I had run into a building due to equipment failure, I would have the data retrieved or ask my insurance company to have the data retrieved.

I can’t see myself ever using left foot for brake, brought up on 3,4,& 5 speed manuals, left foot clutch . Right foot brake and go pedal,

Even when I had both 2 and 3-pedal cars, if I was driving one with an automatic I'd use my left foot for braking, and still do to this day.
I probably haven't had a stick shift for 35-40 years, but I still unconsciously reach for an imaginary shifter and move it back into 1st gear at stoplights,,,,,,
