  1. Ford: Here's How Long We Torture Test Our Trucks Before We Hand You the Keys

That being said, my Mav is the tightest vehicle I've ever had (all Fords since 1996). Every door seam perfectly spaced and nary a squeak or a rattle. WHUT!!!!! ?
  2. Is this how everybody's passenger wiper rests.

On another odd behavior from the wipers, when using the intermittent mode, mine take the swipe, then returns to a resting position for a fraction of second, them moves down again an inch or so. Not to the park position, but a bit higher. ANyone else seen that double-action at the end of the a...
  3. Backup camera quality sux on 2023 XLT. Not related to recall

Would also be curious if anyone has discovered a camera with an identical field of view and aspect (required for the guidelines to be accurate) but better dynamic range. Not sure anything higher res will work, as the Sync 2.5 head units in the XL/XLT 2002~2024 are apprently right at the edge of...
  4. HYBRID 12V Battery Mystery SOLVED

Yep, published LED lamp assembly life is usually a farce; given the cumulative derating of the LED's in harsh environments and high current designs, and the likelihood of individual LED or driver failure, I'd run these VERY spendy, basically unserviceable headlamps as little as possible...
  5. First Maverick Wreck (photo) and Trouble Codes

I believe it's in the passenger fender well behind the well liner? And not very accurate (too close to the road surface temp, I think), so no big loss!
  6. Bad Sway Bar Links At 13K Miles?

At 37k mi, I need to get mine into Ford to look at dash rattles, and a soft but discernible clunk/rumble from the front suspension. Also some vibration at speed, which I might suspect are CV joints. I have the "gold" extended warranty as I bought it as "certified".
  7. Testing for parasitic draw, particularly overnight or intermittent?

I encountered that Ford ***holerly when I modified my cig lighter outlet for constant power. I imagine a handy DIY'er could build an umbilical to jump 12v to the fuse block, either from the mating contact on the receiving box, or directly from the battery. There's also nothing preventing one...
  8. Testing for parasitic draw, particularly overnight or intermittent?

If you own a logging DVM, that can be connected to a PC app, you can capture long term, overnight draws. I have a Picoscope which is good for that.
  9. Testing for parasitic draw, particularly overnight or intermittent?

Intermittent draws are very tedious to catch and then locate the offender. Predicable draws; constant or at specific events; key-on, xx minutes after key-off, are easier as you can repeat conditions. As for actual troubleshooting, a DVM that reads DC millivolts for drops across fuses, a DC...
  10. Ecoboost AWD vs AWD Hybrid MPG is closer than you think

Uh, he IS an engineer, an automotive engineer to boot, and from what I can tell a very GOOD one....
  11. Definitive EQ fix in the lariat with a B&O system?

Yes, you can remove EQ (FLAT) which I did on my XLT, or a few other settings re: speaker locations and configs, but otherwise no useful EQ manipulation.
  12. Definitive EQ fix in the lariat with a B&O system?

I don't think anyone has cracked the transfer function code for the head unit factory EQ, to make modifications. So you're left futzing with the low/mid/high EQ provided, or inserting an aftermarket EQ in front of the B&O amplifiers.
  13. 2022 Hybrid Fuel Tank Leak

    *Totally* different? Photos?
  14. 2022 Hybrid Fuel Tank Leak

Agree, unless there was some glaring defect with the tank proper, the bean counters wouldn't pay for new molds but rather redesign the seal(s), which it appears they have done. Depending on how that nipple/seal is installed by the factory, there *might* be a future field modification kit by...
  15. First Deep Sleep issue encountered

Ford replaced my 12v battery last week under warranty, finding a "bad cell". I noted on the work order (but not actually eyeballed) that the replacement was an AGM. The original was plain flooded (eyeballed). They also did some recall updates; instrument panel, wiper motor. It solved the...
  16. Oh No P1061

I thought P1061 was *always* the rod bearing failure thing?
  17. Potentially Dangerous High Engine Rev

Nah, it should produce plenty of waste heat for the cabin at 11F (mine sure does); a modern Atkinson waste heat vs a TDI Otto are not vastly dissimilar. My ICE runs near mid-gauge temps for steady cruising, even in occasional (very occasional) NTX Winter where high single digits can occur...
  18. I hate Winter and the Snow!!

I think your camera is offering DD/MM/YY instead of MM/DD/YY. A setting change should fix that.
  19. Consumer Reports, April 2025 issue, Ford Maverick

Yep, been a subscriber to CR for 30+ years. While I abhor their politics and "Karen" approach to several things, I find their product reviews to be the most accurate third party, independent data available. They have by far the most statistically representative data being published. CR's been...
