Now for the second time I had my Radio crashing and restarting again. Everything came back and was normal afterwards but was wondering if there might be any known issues? I heard about Radio screen freezing but haven't seen total crash and recovery. Any ideas what it could be? Did anyone else experienced that?

I just experienced this issue today while driving. Radio crashed and shutdown and then restarted after a minute. I just saw another post about Ford releasing a software patch for vehicles produced prior to 29-Nov. Looks like I will need to get this update installed.

My radio gets lethargic sometimes. I have preset stations and I press one to change the station and it can take anywhere from 1-4 seconds to do it. But at least it does do it. I'm getting used to it. If it is software, I figure I will wait for a few updates before I update to give Ford more time to address all the issues by then.

I agree on the non-urgency for my radio situation also. I will not be rushing to the dealer to get the upgrade done, although I do also fall under the fuel tank recall, so I’ll get it there sooner than I would have otherwise ... dependent on how soon there is news that Ford has the replacement fuel tanks available.

I am taking my vehicle in on Thursday for radio issues. I would recommend all owners experiencing call dealer and schedule appointment as can be potentially hardware related. I could be wrong. But the sooner ford gets formal data perhaps the sooner the solution. Not sure any of these issues are happening with the synch3 system which is available with lariat and based on different software and hardware.

For radio updates, do we have to bring it into Ford for them, or does it connect and do it from your driveway?

If the issue is software then we could do ourselves at home when the update is available via wifi. Someone posted there is a potential ACM, audio control module, issue so and mine falls into that VIN range. Not a formal recall though.

Do it from your driveway (may need to be connected to your home WiFi)…. There’s a setting in the radio where you can run it manually (there should also be an auto update setting but that needs wiring connection to updat - I had to manually run the last one

I just checked, and my auto update seems to disable itself (even if i Enable it and Connect to my home WiFi)
