Man that is sad and I want to have sympathy but writing - . "My family and I narrowly escaped the smoked filled cabin." No, the truth is the truck was driven until it caught on fire. There wasn't anything "narrow" about it. Smoke, idiot lights , oil on the hood - all these things scream call a tow truck. I'm really sorry it happened to you however drinking a vehicle until something catastrophic happens ( eventually) isn't the total fault of the truck. Same thing I've told my teenagers when they don't put oil in their vehicle and eventually the motor blows up.
well no one got hurt and I’ve should of done this and that but a oil change warning is not enough to prevent this to happened to inexperienced drivers. I love my Maverick and being Ford tough is correct but when this does happened again at least I have posted my situation to get Ford to look into to this ..

This is a real thing.
The Maverick aerodynamic underbelly panels were so air tight they were determined to be able to trap fuel vapors or liquids this coupled with the air shutters in the radiator area, so they removed some shutters too for guaranteed air flow.
Good to know. I went ecoboost so have no skin in the Hybrid game

Yep, I wondered at the time why the Ecoboost was not included and assumed because it had no shutters to restrict air flow. This will most likely cause a recall for Ecoboost.

Let's be real here..

1. You ignored warnings of problems.
2. You kept driving it, despite #1
3. You placed your family at risk because you ignored #1

With that all said, glad your family is safe.

let’s get real , a new truck shouldn’t be spraying oil inside the engine bay. It could have been someone else and the spray could be worst where it would be too late and people could get hurt or killed ..

Correct which is why when you noticed it was spraying oil you should have stopped and gotten out right then
Luckily no one got hurt but damn…. Not smart on your part
Obviously something unusual happened
Perhaps a fitting was loose or cracked and let go
Generally an issue that could have corrected easily had you given it a chance
Maybe it was something bigger, going to be real hard to tell now

Hopefully next time you’ll just pull over and tow it instead of driving it until it fails

well again , I should of done this or that. It could if been fixed but the point is this is a major concern and what would you do if the fitting broke and oil erupted in flames as soon of a fitting broke and didn’t have time to pull over. It’s the driver fault because he didn’t inspected the fitting before a mountain dive . That’s ludicrous , oil shouldn’t be spraying at the first point . You could have been working on your Maverick in your drive way and left your vehicle to warm up and it’s the driver fault to let it warm up if unknowingly the fitting was broken . I. also use the remote start features on the ford pass and what if one day I step out and my Maverick was on fire , it’s the owner fault to use the app. There can be many scenarios on what ifs .. Get real and start moving forward on preventing this to happen again

On May 24 around 2pm on a sunny day at San Bernardino my Maverick truck unexpectedly caught on fire and explodes after it was leaking oil in the engine area. My family and I narrowly escaped the smoked filled cabin. Being a 2021 build and one of the few first owner of my wonderful truck, I’m still is a dazed on why my truck did this. I never had any issues and my truck build and was very reliable.

On May 24 my truck started to smoke on a mountain pass and I pulled over and popped the hood open. Oil was dripping off the ceiling of the hood but it was a small amount. So I turned around and that’s when the check engine light started to blink. No warning of the truck dashboard was advertised but only the change oil soon did since it was due for an oil change. I made it to a gas station and the smoke was minimal so I purchase a couple quarts and filled one quart in. I keep a funnel in the cubbies space of the engine bay . (In the fender wall) . Drove the Maverick to an empty parking lot so I can get it towed due to the smoke was getting heavy. As I parked the Maverick the cabin was filled with smoke and that’s when we decided to bail out of the Maverick and that when we saw fire erupting out of the outside of the windshield . As we ran away from the burning Maverick it exploded 3 times.

Oddly after the event I found my funnel about 15 ft away of My Maverick , my prize and joy never had an issue. Why did this happened??? We would almost became the few first fatality of Ford Maverick wonder but unpredictable 2.0 eco boost truck. I’m lost in words regarding of the incident. Is this a serious issue that will soon follow for future Maverick owners ?!?

No offense, but adding oil and continuing to drive as it was leaking is a bit like me trying to stop a raging campfire by throwing gasoline on it.
