I also slowly drive into tight parking area into my garage while in creep mode and experienced the banging sometimes but not always grabby brake. It appears to me that with foot lightly on brake but not enough to activate the hydraulic nor the Regen braking that after several seconds probably varying with speed no matter how slow, the system determines that you want the hydraulic brakes applied and does so with great vigor. So do not rest foot on pedal no matter how lightly you can just keep it off the pedal. If you activate Low and use it while creeping the hydraulic/Regen interaction is much different. Due to this observation I believe some improvement could be accomplished with programming. The banging is so loud that I cannot believe that it would be cause directly by the brake pads but possibly by some interaction by electric drive motor /ecvt/planetary/ damper interaction while planetary is adjusting torque distribution. ????I don't think my hybrid shudders, but I have an occasional loud thump/knock that sounds like someone bangs a fender with a fist. Happens about 1x-2x times per week when I'm slow rolling into like a driveway or parking spot. Not accelerating, not really braking, but foot on the brake pedal. Scared the crap out of me the first few times because I thought I hit something! I don't feel the brakes grab coincident with the sound, so I don't think it's "grabby brakes." I switched display modes to see if it's happening in a switch from charging/electric/hybrid.
