Coolant is the term for a "Thermal Transfer Fluid" used as a refrigerant. I am sorry but the common name for a "heating and cooling" Thermal Transfer Fluid escapes me right now.Do a search for “hybrid heat” keywords you will find some discussion already. Sorry I’m on mobile or I would link one. Hybrid has no electric heating element for the cabin, its all the ICE. There is a heat exchange off the exhaust for battery liquid warming. Feels weird to call the liquid a coolant in this context lol.

So this may answer my "if I am away for 90 days and cannot start my hybrid" I can set it to come on say every sun at 5AM to charge battery etc and then at appropriate time end remote start until next Sunday. Perhaps honking horn three times so Alexa can send "maverick did thing #3" text!If you are on a schedule you can set the remote start to fire up at a specific time and then you don't have to worry about it
I disabled the horn for my remote start and the initial run time is 15 minutes and then it shuts down.So this may answer my "if I am away for 90 days and cannot start my hybrid" I can set it to come on say every sun at 5AM to charge battery etc and then at appropriate time end remote start until next Sunday. Will it restart after 15/30 or ?? Minutes? Or after HVB gets to certain SOC? Or is start procedure completed? I realize you probably didn't wait to find out, thanks.I disabled the horn for my remote start and the initial run time is 15 minutes and then it shuts down.
From what i read you get one initial remote start that will stay on for 15 minutes. Then you can extend it again for 15 minutes once, but after that it will shut off until you are present with key or lariat wireless fob to actually turn the ignition/press to start. That resets the process. Maybe there’s also a timeout/reset for the limit after x many hours? Will it restart after 15/30 or ?? Minutes? Or after HVB gets to certain SOC? Alas, not an option (at least not a safe option) if you garage your vehicle. If you are on a schedule you can set the remote start to fire up at a specific time and then you don't have to worry about it
I do doubt that unattended restarting will be an option. Probably just have to have neighbor start it when and if I ever leave the house again. From what i read you get one initial remote start that will stay on for 15 minutes. Maybe. I find it faster to let the engine warm up and then turn it on. YMMV.Yes, but not presenting heater demand exacerbates heating up slowly because it won't run in a profile to heat up faster.
That's surprising. Have you tested it both ways and come to that conclusion?Maybe. I find it faster to let the engine warm up and then turn it on. YMMV.![]()
Unless the Maverick is setup differently than other hybrids, in cold weather the delay might be a few seconds. When I say cold weather I mean around freezing or below. The ICE will start if it's not up to operating temperature, the Maverick Hybrid is not a plug-in with a big battery. I usually turn on my hybrid and and scrape frost/snow off windows if needed (this can take me 5+ minutes depending on how thick it is). As I noted earlier in this thread I gave up waiting for the engine to do it in a reasonable time, and use a 1500W electric heater that runs off an extension cord to my house, my current vehicle does not have remote start, and I hate wasting that much gas. That's surprising. Have you tested it both ways and come to that conclusion?
I ask because my understanding was that the hybrid usually delays starting the ICE while it runs on the battery, but will start the ICE earlier (and thus generate heat for the cabin) if there is a demand for cabin heat.
Are you saying the ICE starts and heats up earlier if there is no demand for cabin heat?
