I would like to be able to preheat my Maverick's 2.5 engine next winter. I couldn't find a Maverick with an engine heater on the lot.
I've used ducted heat from a milkhouse heater in the past for vehicles that didn't have a bottom splash cover.
Any ideas?

Used to be able to get some pad heaters you could strap on your oil pan for cold climates, dunno if you'd maybe want to look into those.

Hybrid tech, weird at times.
Could there be a Forscan mod to start the ice and keep it running for morning warm ups ?

My 2021 Bronco Sport with the 1.5L engine that was so small it was slow to warm up the cabin.
I bought an electric plug in heater, plugged in the 12vdc socket.
It didn’t do jack.

Don't order OEM. They are under recall with no parts available.

The milkhouse heater is along the lines I was thinking. A buddy of mine parks in front of the dryer vent and tented with a blanket.

$$$$ I'm Cheap!$$$$.
My understanding is that removal of the hybrid engine is required for engine block heater retrofit.

I found some information on these that indicated they may have a risk of starting a fire. I'd prefer to move warm air to the cold engine in some fashion.

In cold weather below 20 degrees F. I always manually start the engine and let it warm up for 10 minutes, but I'd rather pre-warm the engine to avoid the cold start altogether.
Yeah, 12V heaters are a joke!
I'm retired, so I have more time than money!

Get one of those oil dipstick heaters you plug in at night.
I used to own and use one of these in the 70's (1970's).
It worked just fine, but it got fiery hot in the engine.
Thanks for mentioning it! I will consider looking into them to see if I can find a low amperage version which will be less likely to cook the engine oil it comes in contact with.

Anyone wanna play with supersaturated sodium acetate? Like those hand warmers you boil to recharge, and click to activate.

I figure you need a jacket of it around the engine and a solenoid remote to set it off, or the bell hammer of a clockwork alarm clock, or a mousetrap and a long piece of string. Maybe you can get it in a long "sock" and wind it around.

Some messing with chemistry might be advantageous, you don't really need the heat to last too long, more that you want it all into the motor.... But also recharging it might be a bit hit and miss because you need 10 mins plus of warmed up motor run time to get it hot enough.... which isn't really free heat unless you pull it out of the exhaust.

heat pump compressor heater wire - Google search.

Got one of those and ended up not using it.
Meant for 240V at the unit, I wired a standard 120V wall plug on it, so half the watts.
It turns on and ramps up the resistance/heat as the temp decreases past a set point - automatically.
Mine seemed longer than this picture, maybe not.
Used in outside cat house under blankets for a couple visiting cats in winter.

If it could be held to the oil pan with magnets, and cable out front zip tied safely - not sure if the 20-25 watts would be enough. Under shield would keep it safer at least.
You can buy with varying turn-on temps, and max power.
