As far as getting more TRUCK out of the deal, yeah, the Lightning is the way to go, but also still a lot more money. 2 trades and still financing $48k. Yikes!

The thing that worries me about the Lightning is that has such a massive battery, home charging would be a chore. I drive a Chevy Bolt with a 66Kw battery, and it takes like 6 hours to charge at home from empty. A Lightning is double that. For my purposes the Lightning is too much of a good thing. I've split that expense between a Chevy Bolt and a Maverick Hybrid.

I do think that as far as "real" trucks go, the Lightning and the Ramcharger are the way to go. Take a real body on frame truck and convert it to EV, as opposed to the Chevy Silverado EV unibody truck.

You mean like ethanol subsidies?
In my opinion, all subsidies, including those for ethanol and EVs, should be eliminated. If a product requires a subsidy to thrive, it suggests that it cannot sustain itself independently.

Please come back and report on your Maverick vs. Lightning experience when you're a few months into the new truck.

Thank you, we did get the ford charger you referenced. We have an existing level 2 (wife has an ID.4) so we’ll see about swapping them out.
How do you like your ID.4? I’ve always liked the looks of the VW ID EV’s. They seem to get a bum rap in the car magazines. Be interested to hear an owner’s perspective.

Wow, night and day, but I have both a Maverick and a Rivian R1T. Just took a road trip ATL-Knoxville and from an EV standpoint nothing really different than an ICE vehicle, except where you fill up. I hit Flying J's truck stop on the way up, with covered charging, 20 minutes = 150 miles. While I was there hit Walmart with Electrify America, 20 miles 150 miles. And on the way back hit the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga EVGO 20 minutes 150 miles.

I was originally on the lightning reservation list, but that was just another MACH-E, Bronco, Maverick reserve one year, delivery next couple years. I bailed years ago.

I hope they change the front light bar at some point. It looks like the cheapest "ready to yellow" plastic ever.

Evs are not ready for the open road yet. Mileage too low and charging too slow. Not a lot of chargers out there if you plan on long trips....risky at best. For local travel and home charging it may be practical but not as a primary vehicle. Cold and towing kills the EV ranges significantly in the Northeast. I have a home charger - 2 years now...and still have not bought an EV. Maybe the Equinox as a cheap low end roundabout. You do not save money long term with an EV....charging is not cheap like it was 5 years ago...those days are over now.

Wow, nice deal! Congrats and good luck! I was at my dealer last weekend getting my windows tinted and sat in a showroom Lightening. Very beautiful vehicle. Way too big for me and my needs (to be honest, I’m having a bit of a time adjusting to the size difference between my Outback and the Maverick).

The whole windshield? That is pretty cool. Makes a lot of sense too.

Did you get heated steering wheel/seats? Ventilated? Those are some of my must haves for a full size truck. Ventilated seats are amazing!

If fully loaded full size trucks were still in the 50k range overall or if they ever get back to that range, I'll likely consider it in the future as well. Anything above that is just too much for me.
Ford had "instaclear" windshields in the late 1980s. These were on select ford, lincoln, mercury products. Expensive glass to replace, they had a pinkish purplish cast to them from the outside, and worked great. Old tech.

Only you are the judge of it is a good deal for you or not, no need to get approval from us MTCers!

Congrats, enjoy the Lightning!

Today took advantage of Ford’s amazing incentives and traded in my much loved Maverick.

Our 22 Hybrid w/ Lux pkg + moonroof and slide rear window was easily one of the most enjoyable vehicles I’ve ever owned.

traded in a minivan too that was a little upside down on loan so my final numbers won’t matter to you. But here’s the incentives I received on a 23 Lariat Lightning Extended Range:

$79,785 MSRP
-5,000 Ford Cash
-2,000 Private Ford Offer
-2,856 Dealer discount
-5,000 Colorado instant EV Tax credit
-500 additional Dlr discount (“I’ll buy if you come down another $500 and throw in a free spray-in bed liner)
-7,500 Federal “ “
(= $22,356 OFF MSRP!)
PLUS 36mo @1.9%!! Promo FoMo Credit!

And since people will be wondering, with my maverick and minivan trade allowance, minus their respective payoffs, $48,740.64 out the door, including my local sales tax, doc fee, reg. fee.

I think I did great. If you’re considering a lightning to replace your Mav- this is a great time for purchasing one. Obviously a much bigger truck but very awesome.
