Congrats on your new truck. Like many others, EV's just are not practical to me due to the fact I take a lot of long trips. I am afraid it might take me a few days to get to AL/FL line to visit relatives if I had an EV and had to make charging stops, plus it would be a task to plan a trip based on where a charging station might be. BTW: what will it cost for a full charge at one of these travel stations?

Today took advantage of Ford’s amazing incentives and traded in my much loved Maverick.

Our 22 Hybrid w/ Lux pkg + moonroof and slide rear window was easily one of the most enjoyable vehicles I’ve ever owned.

traded in a minivan too that was a little upside down on loan so my final numbers won’t matter to you. But here’s the incentives I received on a 23 Lariat Lightning Extended Range:

The whole windshield? That is pretty cool. Makes a lot of sense too.

Did you get heated steering wheel/seats? Ventilated? Those are some of my must haves for a full size truck. Ventilated seats are amazing!

If fully loaded full size trucks were still in the 50k range overall or if they ever get back to that range, I'll likely consider it in the future as well. Anything above that is just too much for me.

Our 2015 VW eGolf SEL had a heatpump and fully heated windshield as well. Yes they are really nice for defogging the windshield when only using the heated seats/steering wheel.

I charge at home 99% of the time. We had a model 3 a few years ago and I’ve driven round trip Denver - NYC and Denver - Oregon coast never any issues just takes more planning. Tesla charging network is great though.
it’s hard to calculate the charging costs. Just like gas stations, the charging stations all have varying price per kwh. On those long hauls, I plan my stays at hotels with EV chargers, that way you get a ‘free’ charge and wake up with a full battery ready to go. thus usually only a couple charges are needed during the days travel.
hopefully EV with faster charging capabilities and continued improved charging networks will, with time, alleviate the valid concerns you’ve mentioned

Stopped shipping d/t quality control issue. Still making them, but yes, less production. Without incentives the pricing is way off on the lightning and it’s the perfect storm with higher borrowing rates and somewhat lower gas prices currently.

The ID4 has heated & massaging seats, heated wheel, and the heated windshield. The 24’s now added the cooled seats which, yes fully agree, are spectacular.

also yes on lightning seats. The lariat has the heated & cooled seats. No massage though… that’s the platinum

It’s amazingly quick… for a big vehicle feels a lot different than taking off in say a Tesla or similar. You don’t realize how fast you’re going sitting up high either.

Dude, I applaud you! If anything, you will be able to document how one can use a full size electric truck. For my driving needs, I just needed a small pickup to do just that, pick up items that I either could not fit inside a vehicle or items that would easily damage the interior. A truck bed was the answer. Pricing was next and lastly, due to over 7 years of driving a hybrid, I just knew getting a hybrid truck for me was a winning situation. Let us know how things progress and teach us on how to navigate life using this very large fully electric truck!

Dude, I applaud you! If anything, you will be able to document how one can use a full size electric truck. For my driving needs, I just needed a small pickup to do just that, pick up items that I either could not fit inside a vehicle or items that would easily damage the interior. A truck bed was the answer. Pricing was next and lastly, due to over 7 years of driving a hybrid, I just knew getting a hybrid truck for me was a winning situation. Let us know how things progress and teach us on how to navigate life using this very large fully electric truck!

Thanks for your kind words. Like I mentioned, I’m all-in on the Maverick- easily one of the best vehicles I’ve driven and for most people probably more practical than any 1500 truck. We used our Maverick for so many things- outdoor rec, dump hauls, moving & buying furniture, mulch and landscaping, road trip… Maverick does it all really.

I struggled to make this decision to get rid of it, I only had $6K left at 0% but this lightning stackable promo was too good to pass up for my situation.

I think Farley is in full control & being malleable to the market changes which I feel will go back to favor EVs. Long-term strategy. Who knows, Ford is a massive global company.
