If you plan on towing anything, your charged battery dwindlles down considerably. One guy on YouTube was averaging 330 per charge when he wasn't towing anything. He loaded up a car onto a trailer to move it, and his mileage went down to 90. And in ice cold weather, the battery loses it's charge considerably.

How long is it going to take you to charge it when you're traveliing and it needs to be recharged?
For me, EV's aren't worth it. I'll keep my hybrid Lariat.

Good luck with your new Lightning.
I wouldn't get an EV truck if I towed things, but this guy obviously knows a bit about EVs and maybe he doesn't tow anything.

There's all the "narrative of the week" BEV stories in the media, which we should all ignore, and then there are facts. One fact that caught my eye this week was a fleet buyer complaining because the 100 Lightnings they'd ordered were on a stop ship order because of a defective headlight cable.

It wasn't the cable defect that caught my eye - it was that a fleet buyer had ordered 100 Lightnings. And there are a lot of unexciting facts like that out there - like the fact that Ford's electric Transit is a super-hot seller in the fleet market. You won't read about those successes because they don't inflame a polarized public and generate clicks.

We are calmly progressing to a BEV future.
I feel like I'm posting too much at here is I'm new to the site but just wanted to congratulate you on a rational post. I don't know why everything has to be tribal and political these days

I work for a public entity. We bought a ICE transit a couple years ago for around $35k. Two neighboring public entities purchased Electric Transits, similarly equipped models except for the power train. They paid between $55 & $60k for theirs. Guess who paid the difference......tax payers! Is that one of the success stories?

Congrats, I definitely was looking at Lightnings when I bought my 24 XLT Maverick Hybrid but couldn’t find those kind of discounts in Texas (no state EV rebate here)

on a side note there was a huge storm in Houston a few weeks ago that left a huge area without electricity for over a week. When I visited the dealership for the first time they had no electricity but they were running all the computers and several portable air conditioners off a Lightning that was in the showroom

So you had 6k left at 0% interest until you owned a vehicle, so you borrowed 50k to save on gas? 🤔

I would have paid my maverick off and driven it for a decade…. Oh wait, that’s what I’m doing
Exactly 👍🏻

Ford and a bunch of other manufacturers can now charge at a lot of Tesla Superchargers. Charging my Rivian was pretty easy before, but now it's everywhere. They'll send you an adaptor for your Lightning in the mail.

Funny but true
Ugh incentives 😒
There's all kinds of incentives for all kinds of things though if you want to go through them all. Like the way full size trucks are considered light work trucks and subject to different mileage requirements and stuff like that. The chicken tax..... And that's just amongst vehicles. I mean, obviously the economy needs oil at this point, but the US Navy and Air Force subsidize the price of oil by ensuring its delivery around the world. So you could argue that somebody who has a lower mileage vehicle or drives a lot more is benefiting from that subsidy more than me or the guy with the lightning
