My state has annual property tax on all vehicles - cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs etc payable to the city or town. Then on top of that you have to pay for your license plates to the state every 3 years.
This will end up with a small, loyal enthusiast community, but I doubt it'll ever become a huge selling vehicle. Too basic for today's buyers, and if you start adding options you quickly get into a price range where a full featured truck like the Maverick would be competition.
You have no idea how low those registration numbers actually are. The town property tax on my Maverick is $380 this year. It was more last year. And for my Chevy Blazer EV the property tax for THIS YEAR is $1,085
Is the 2028 going to be an actual full redesign or a 2025 style refresh with limited changes? Ford usually seems to let models run 10 years before a completely new design is offered.
What are we even calling this new Ford EV truck? Is it really going to be the Ranchero? Given that it's clearly going to be an on road vehicle, the Ranchero name doesn't seem to fit. Ford whatever reason the Ranchero name to me conjures images of the 1950s fascination with westerns - John Wayne...
I'm sure they are studying Chinese EVs. Jim Farley talks about Chinese EVs all the time. The new Ford EVs are using licensed battery tech from a Chinese company.
Right to repair and technical ability to repair are 2 different things. Right to repair doesn't mean tinkering in your driveway, it means 3rd party shops having access to the tools and the computer software to fix these vehicles. And why choose to build these vehicles with specialty tools other...
So someone on the Maverick forum is supposed to sign up for other forums to post about the new truck? Maybe people in those forums are also talking about it. Nobody is pushing anything. Some Maverick owners would consider making the switch to the EV, so it's of interest.
This is great. The "chapel of love" video actually gives you a good peek. You can see that there's a large center screen, and a little bit of the driver's side of the dashboard.
Now I'm excited. All of Ford's recent EV announcements have turned out to be vaporware - the next gen EV Lightning, the "personal bullet train" 7 passenger, the Lincoln/Rivian luxury SUV. Never saw prototypes of any of those out on the streets. At least this truck is out and about finally...
You can torture the test vehicles all you want, but if in the end you build the whole truck out of the lowest quality parts, it's still gonna fall apart
