I've read that Subaru is the #1 make for ownership by lesbians, especially the Forester. Totally serious. I didn't even know they gathered statistics like that.
That’s been the lore for decades. Subaru’s clientele skews gay, progressive, higher income and higher education than most brands. They let me buy one anyway.

Back in the 90s, Subaru ran an ad which was "suggestive" before it was so cool to run ads for the gay/lesbian crowd. (Before "Will & Grace" was on TV).

Plus they've always been quirky, some people like that (like me).

As far as statistics- all the big companies try to figure out who exactly buys their stuff and how to get those people to buy more stuff, and how to get other people to buy their stuff, too. There are lots of companies who make $$$$$$$ doing market and advertising research..

Enjoy your Subaru. I had a company issued Legacy that I put over 100k miles on and I think the only thing I ever did was change the oil and tires once at around 80k miles. I didn’t love the Legacy only because I had previously had a Pilot and the seating was different (hard on my back) but the maintenance was easy and it just worked. Zero recalls too.

Our trucks are gonna last forever at this rate. Our explorer is 8 yrs old with only 30k on it. It's had at least a dozen oil changes. I keep saying I should change the transmission fluid and engine coolant and my dealer techs keep telling me there's no need yet 😂.
I would disagree with tranny oil, if yours is the ecoboost model. Change tranny at 30k.

My wife's car is an '18 Crosstrek Limited, with all the bells and whistles. They ride very comfortably, although can hit the bump stops somewhat easily with three large adults or heavy items in the cargo area. Prior to my Maverick, I had a '12 Outback, which I installed lift spacers and overload springs and never an axle failure btw. I had a tough time letting go of her when the Maverick arrived. Other than maintenance items, very reliable. Only non-maintenance item was the starter, which developed a zing in cold weather, that being at the top of the motor it was a super easy $105.00 repair. Most difficult maintenance/repair was replacing the spark plugs on the boxer engine, all six of them, as mine was a 3.6R. (The back two are knuckle busters).

Your boss now has a reason to have you to work during inclement weather, their AWD setup goes through just about anything.

It's the duratec and it's at 32k mostly stop and go driving. They looked at the fluid a few weeks ago and said it still looks red and healthy.

Hybrid is different, I was only referring to 8 speed automatic.

Apologies for the lack of clarification, this vehicle with 32k miles on it isn't a maverick, it's a 2017 explorer we bought in 2016 with a 3.5 duratec and a 6 speed transmission. I only mentioned it to poke fun at my overly protective ownership habits. I keep having people tell me age of rules like transmission and engine coolant doesn't really matter as much as mileage, it hasn't been changed for 8 years. Our techs keep saying it doesn't need it, but I don't want to risk it.

IF it’s what you are saying you should change your transmission oil IF it’s an automatic

Wait what, your tires lasted 100k miles?!? That's impressive.
Yeah, some folks told me to replace it long before I did. But where I'm from, if it still holds air and still rolling, it's good....
And I'm cheap. Actually, they were right. Anyway, I'm glad nothing happened.

Very reliable. Still getting low 40s mpg. I had minor annoyances like everyone else had. I guess the worst was a slight transmission fluid leak at 67k miles that cost $600 to repair because it was not covered by warranty. I still have some recalls I was putting off. I might get those done now.

Mileage reimbursement allowed me to pay off the Mav in less than two years.
@BoboysTruck just curious why the tranny leak wasn't covered. The transmission is a "hybrid component" as it has both the regenerative motor and the drive motor in it. Should be warranted out to 8 years and 100,000 miles. Why did Ford say they would not cover it, and can you go back to them to get reimbursed for the $600?

From the Ford Maverick warranty: " Depending on your vehicle, electrical drivetrain system components covered by this warranty may include, and are not limited to: high-voltage battery, high-voltage battery connector, battery energy control module (BECM), on-board charger, inverter system controller (ISC), DC/DC converter, hybrid continuously variable transmission or electric driveline motor and transmission range sensor. "

My maverick needed CV Axels @ 30,000. So I could only imagine.
Just had both of my CV axles replaced at 35k. Boots failed on both of them. Hopefully the replacements last longer.

I would be curious to see what is causing some people's CV axles to fail early on. A lot of people seem to be going off-road, so that could be part of it.
Just had mine replaced at 35k. The rubber boots failed. I've got a hybrid and live in the city. Not a lot of dirt road and never been 'off-road' in it.
