Kathy,

I just installed the stay and play in my Mav the other day. It was the easiest install I have done. I have installed several system over the course of my RV life. I considered under under the back seat but nixed that. I placed the operating unit next to the air box. (Perfect fit) The wiring and air tubing was easy to run as Ford was nice enough to place a large unused grommet in the fire wall. Look to the left of the brake pedal high up on the fire wall. I use wireless magnetic base tow lights so I don’t tap into the vehicles light system. Any questions let me know. Just waiting on my baseplate from Roadmaster now.

Thank you GREG -That is great to hear!
I was concerned that the high voltage cables and/or the brake booster might get in the way. - but I am only able to guess d/t not having truck to look at.
Which towbar are you using?
I might hit you up for some photos of your install after I get my Mav. Happy trails and hope you get your baseplate soon. 👍 :D

When deciding between Blue Ox and Roadmaster baseplates take a look at the pics below. The first pic is the factory install of a BlueOx baseplate, the next two pics are of the Roadmaster factory install baseplate. The last pic is for those who think wider baseplate is better is of af a factory install of a Blue Ox baseplate on a 2021 Ford Escape hybrid, which has narrower connection points than the Roadmaster setup on a Maverick . Yes you can use a Blue Ox tow bar on a Roadmaster baseplate with a simple adapter.

I use a Roadmaster All terrain 10k tow bar. No worries on the pics. I do recommend the wireless magnetic lights for the toad. Makes the install so much easier and less invasive on the towed vehicle.

I went the diode kit for lighting. More work or cost upfront, but I have used magnetic lights and I wanted a cleaner look and the simplicity of hookup. You have to hookup the electrical umbilical cord anyway, why not let it hookup everything. One time cost, lifetime ease.

I am going different on my tow bar. While I have a Roadmaster baseplate, I am going with a Ready Brake Hercules tow barraged at 10,000 pounds. It has a built in surge brake that by cable pulls the brake pedal down in the toad. Saves a minimum of $1,000 dollars over a separate brake system and is 100% mechanical setup.

Just talked with Roadmaster, looks as if shipping of their baseplates will start the latter part of the week starting April 18th.

I'm looking at the Maverick as a vehicle to tow behind our motor home. Has anyone seen any information on flat-towing the Maverick? If so, are there any special equipment options that are required? (Engine, transmission,...)
You've already discovered the hybrid can indeed be flat towed. You'll need a base plate (permanently attached to the Maverick), a tow bar, and a braking system. Two most common companies are Roadmaster and Blue Ox.
I flat-towed my Chevy Colorado using a Roadmaster base plate, tow bar and an NSA Ready Brake system. You can shop these items separately, or you can get them in kit/system form. Here's a link

https://nsatowbars.com/collections/complete-tow-package

This is from Camping World, but you can buy direct from the NSA website as well.

I used the same brake system on my Chevy Colorado and will continue to use it when I set up the Maverick. I liked it because it didn't require a lot of messing around with the vehicle's braking system, just as you stated, a cable pull. It may of interest to others, that the Ready Brake can be purchased separately and used with just about any other tow bar brand

Did you get yours installed yet? Did you install an in dash light to let you know if the Mavs brakes come on? The reason I ask is the brake light switch goes through the firewall as best I can tell and no wires to tap into that I can see. I am running a Demco alarm and needed to tap the cold side of the brake light switch. Best I could do was tap into the brake light and the tail lights. If you used an alarm did you do something different?

thanks

Great news, were you able to place an order for the base plates? Are you installing them or having someone install them? What number did you use to call Roadmaster? Thanks in advance.

You can order directly from Roadmaster right now. 18006699690. I do my own installs. Baseplates are not that complicated an install. Roadmaster Instructions are pretty darn good.

I finally got my hybrid lariat lux yesterday, so now its time to order a baseplate. However, it seems like I heard that the Roadmaster baseplate won't work with adaptive cruise control. Is that correct?

Thanks again, I called and they are already on back order but I went ahead and placed my order. Thanks again for the info!
