I find the fake mav hybrid sound pretty dang annoying, its like it’s an electric whine that is a bit grating rather than being cool and futuristic. Maybe it’s just me. What’s weird is that it seems to be on no matter if the ICE is running or not. Below 25 mph it’s on and then suddenly it’s nice and quiet above 25mph like a cloud has lifted. I’m curious what others think. I’m also unable to tell if the brake regen is adding to that sound or if that’s just simply the fake sound becoming louder at lowering speeds compared to road noise. Makes braking sound/feel abrasive rather than smooth IMO.

My mother’s rav4 hybrid makes a noise I can only describe as angelic.

My 2018 RAV4 XLE hybrid is silent. No noise at all…. Maybe it’s a model year 21 upgrade. Love my RAV4 hybrid… so quiet and plenty of power and 33-34 mpg mixed driving.

I believe 2019 was the model year that multiple nations federal government mandates forced hybrid and electric vehicles to emit sounds at low speed.

Are you sure. You won't hear it inside the car. Roll down your window, and roll forward slowly. I bet you hear a slight whistling noise.
It's there. Try this: Hold down the brake (Auto hold is fine), switch from Park to Drive. Now switch back to park. Notice a quiet engine-like noise that goes away once you hit park? I'm pretty sure that's the fake engine noise. Everything else is probably the actual electric motor.

So, has anyone found a way to alter the sound, to something more pleasant, perhaps with Forscan?

So I'm guessing the fake sounds are added through the speakers?

How does that work with aftermarket sound systems, can it be eliminated somehow?

Well I feel dumb, I never heard of this! Hopefully it's not too fake and annoying sounding! Other than this thread, I've never heard anyone else mention this.

It's for pedestrians to know there's a car. Especially in parking lots.

It’s not a sound that mimics the engine, its an odd kind of “wooshy” noise, I find it annoying but not terrible.

I noticed it right away. My 2016 Fusion Hybrid was extremely quiet at low speeds. When I picked up my Maverick a couple of days ago, I was wondering what this noise was. It's really annoying

Ha! We could make it sound like a car from the Jetsons!

Or, it could play a theme song instead... Like the A-Team theme. 🤣

I'm pretty sure there's a speaker for the sound in the hood. It's law that cars operating in electric mode make sound. There could be a blind person walking down the sidewalk while you're driving!

I have two Fusion Hybrids and these do not make any sound when in battery mode. I assume the Maverick will be the same. Quiet as my Maverick order.
