I got this same switch to swap out the one from DD, but am confused on which leads it goes on - i assume the ground chassis goes to common, and then the others are NO and + ?
If it's the same switch ground is common. I attached mine to a bolt above the brake pedal. The switched leads go back to the module and the LED ring positive can go either to the always on 12 volts so it's always illuminated or to the switched positive wire so it's only on when you have the fogs on.

thank you. Looks like mine is slightly different - but I think its mostly the same, attach the ground chassis wire to common, and the other two one goes to positive and the other to NO depending on if I want the LED ring to be on all the time - did I understand correctly?

Mine stay on with the high beams unless shut off.
How did you accomplish that? My presumption is that if one follows the DD installation instructions, they go off when the high beams come on, which is of course the legal mode of operation. Do you know which wire you tapped in to?

In stock configuration the low beams stay on with the high beams. The DD's (as per install instructions) are tapped into the lows so they stay illuminated as well.

If you're somewhere particularly draconian about enforcing that fog lights need to be off with the high beams, then your best bet is to go with the F-150 switch install and wire to the BCM w/ FORScan tuning to automatically follow that behavior.

Thanks Darnon!

I'm not concerned about the legality issue as looking into the fog lights of others when it seems like they're not needed by the other driver, is one of my pet peeves and I don't use mine when there are other drivers coming toward me in most situations. That said, most people probably don't know where the switches are for these things... I was also never stopped when I had them wired up to be on whenever I wanted them in a previous vehicle. I suppose if I ever was concerned about them being functionally legal I could add a switch to go between the legal and illegal modes.

Maybe I need to start another thread for this question..., but if I wanted to be able to have them on whenever the daytime running lights were on (controlled by a switch) and not just with the headlights, I assume that I would simply hook up both trigger wires (blue and white) to a daytime running light or side marker light wire. Is that so, or would I be inviting a problem that I'm not considering? I'm asking largely because I'm not so familiar with modern automotive electronics. 20 years ago this would have been a no brainer to me, I just want to make sure I'm not going to mess anything up unwittingly.

Thanks to anyone who’d be willing to share any of their wisdom about this!

Mine stay on with the high beams unless shut off. Mounted a switch to the right of the headlight selector. Don't want them on unless I need them. Having them on with the high beams in fog/snow/rain is counter productive as they ruin the distance sight anyway.

I’m so tempted to purchase the DD kit. Do those small lights produce much light? Do they help in the fog or are they more for appearance?

looks great though

I had a set of DD amber fogs on the vehicle that I traded in to get my maverick, and I was very happy with them.

I'll be ordering a set for my maverick when they release the '25 version.

Yes, the amber fogs are very bright when on. When off they are just a small glowing rectangle.

I used a dremel and then a microfiber cloth to debur...breaks off the remains easily. You have to remove the front fascia from the truck...if you already installed fender flares it will be somewhat of a hazzle. DD does include wires with their relay block...power with a fuse, ground, backlit amber wire, foglight activation wire and a deactivation wire - incase you really want them off with your highs.

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/foglights-installed-diode-dynamics.42427/

This link provides more info and there is a video on their site that shows how to install. I wired my up differently but to each his own. I would have easily paid Ford $300 for these fogs.
My wiring...
I plan on doing very similar to this and following your wiring diagram.
Please advise why you felt the need to add resistors to the switch LEDs.

The Maverick is extremely sensitive to current draw for the turn signals. After the latest software updates it became even more sensitive to the current draws for the turn singals and other leds on the truck. Without placing the correct resistances according to my diagram you will get hyperflashing when you turn your turn signal on. With these resistors in place as per my diagram...wherever it is on this forum, you will stop the hyperflashing of the turn signal and it will blink at the same speed as it normally does. You can try installing without the resistors first but I suspect it will hyperflash on you. Mine was Lariat. Those resistors GET HOT if the blinkers are on for even short durations so place the resistors up in a safe area. I mounted them to an aluminum base and placed on top the strut towers with spacers to allow for air flow. I did this more than a year ago and have had ZERO issues with them to this day. Everyone says it is easy to spot my truck now since it has distinctive leds on visible during the day.

Very much appreciated your clear answer as I also know that resistors can get very hot.. I googled before asking your advise and it went down a rabbit hole of Arduino and GPIO. I know what those words mean but not much beyond that. Your diagram is here on this thread. Now I know what to look for. I thought the diode dynamics only tapped into the DRLs but I will study your wiring layout more closely as there are options. Tapping the DD backlights into the signal indicators is an intriguing idea.

I have the imagination to think about this but probably lack the guts to try it.

I read this excellent thread by @Vtec87pr1. I pretty much understand how the OEM switch is sending a signal Canbus (or similar) to the BCM that will turn on PIN 6/7 and drive the Fog lamps and also turn on the relevant light in the Instrument cluster. Fine.

But what if I drive Pin 6 to 12V+ via a classic switch/relay circuit? Will that turn on the instrument cluster light, regardless of whether the BCM was told to drive Pin 6?

Like you're trying to backfeed current into the circuit to trigger the instrument cluster light? No, that probably wouldn't work since the indicator is likely commanded via LIN/CANBUS messaging.

Ford Maverick Diode Dynamics Fog Lights Installed NewWiringDiagram

Received the Diode Dynamics Elite Fog yesterday.
My interpretation of the vendor install instructions.
There must be a good reason but it seems really weird that the instructions consistently tap into the passenger side Ford harness despite the power, relay, and switch being on the driver side.
I plan to NOT follow these perfectly and tap the amber backlights as AUX turn signals if it will let me without hyper-flashing. And no vampire taps. I learned my lesson as a teenager. I will try something close to pins.

Bummer. I was hoping to bench test with a 9V and I could not even get the backlight to flash, didnt try the full-power.

Weird this thread shows a pinout with 16 pins 2x8 while the Diode Dynamics instructions talk about a 12 pin, and using pin 10 that the pinout does not show.

My mistake. The 16 pin goes to the Headlamp. There is a separate I guess 12 pin down by the running lamps that is only accessible once the fender liner has been removed.
Unclear why they opted to tap here. I would guess that they also recognize that vampires are NOT great but less bad happens down here. Still have not found the 12 pin connector in the schematic PDF.

12 July EDIT:
PIN 3 Blue/Green and PIN 10 Brown Yellow are on different Molex connectors. Blue/Green is to headlamp. Brown/Yellow is behind the splash gaurd and leads to bumper. Blue Green is an "activation wire" to indicate that low beams are ON before allowing the switch to turn on fogs. Brown/Yellow is a power source for the fog-backlights as running lights.

Confirmed that it is a 16 pin molex connector for the headlamp, 12 pin is behind the fender liner that is not obvious.

I plan to tin some wire to make it stiff enough to at least test and will likely just ziptie the insulation on the pin to the harness and declare victory. Fog lights are not a critically reliable feature to me.

Because I am special kind of person, I think I will actually tie all of this stuff on the driver side.
