Following. The video is EXACTLY what I am experiencing. It happens in the morning when the engine is cold (50°- 60° Here). It actually feels like running over ripples in the road and vibrates the entire vehicle. It has happened to me 3 times in almost the same spot just a couple hundred feet out my driveway when leaving for work in the mornings. I actually have run back over the spot trying to recreate it unsuccessfully thinking it was the road until reading this thread. I will try to recreate on demand with this new info.

Just want to add this video. I apologize for the very low audio so please turn up your headphones. I was trying an action cam out and caught this on my video. I've had the shudder happen around 4-5 times. The camera's video stabilzation really takes away the violent shudder but I describe it as "A stick shift leaving a stop sign in 3rd gear instead of 1st by mistake" If you have driven a manual I think you will understand what I am describing. The shake is fairly violent vs a handoff between Electric and ICE and shakes the whole truck. The local Ford dealership isn't confident yet that they can replicate it so they suggested to bring it in when it happens, which is like catching lightning in a bottle. I can say that for sure, it has happened when the motor is cold, in the morning and/or when driving at slow speeds like 25-30 mph. In the video the Maverick is transitioning to ICE at about 28ish mph. I hope this helps others. 1700 miles on my Maverick to clarify a bit more.

Sorry to be off topic but is that some kind of dash cover on your Mav?
thanks and hope for all of us that this shudder is not a big problem (no build date yet :-(

I've put almost 4000 mi on my Hybrid 2.5L XL Hybrid and simply love this truck! However about 4 times when you first take off the motor will be revving high, sort of like when the choke would be on but then after a minute or 2 it slows down, usually normally but a few times it makes a big shudder, shakes the whole truck before the engine slows down!

Anyone else experience this?
Read the whole thread. Happened to me on Friday. Driving on Tremont St. in Boston. From one light to another. No heavy throttle, no heavy braking. Driving in anticipation of having to stop at the next block. Sometimes don’t have to. Thoroughly warmed up. Foot light on the throttle, or light on the brake.
It happened. Took my foot off of everything. Looked in the mirror at the pavement. Nothing of import to see. Wife said it felt like the broken surface on the side of the highway, warning that you’re wandering a bit.
My bet? Brake chatter.
Remember…….electric parking brake. My “incident” happened after, while waiting for the bride, I played around with the auto hold function, and the parking brake. I haven’t used either function since. And no new shudder.
We’ll see…..

Just writing in to say I'm experiencing the same thing. The shudder feels like starting in 3rd gear from a stop driving a manual. Has happened for about 1-2 seconds five times in 2000 miles.

I had it happen twice in one day last week. Both times were just after starting the drive, I am not totally sure but I think it might have been the initial kick-in of the ICE. First was 57 degrees out in the morning, second was 63 degrees in the afternoon. Just the brief shudder and I took my foot of the gas immediately each time, otherwise everything was normal. I do wonder how long the shudder would continue if we didn't let off the gas, or if we punched it.

I had this exact same thing happen to my hybrid last week. I ended up letting off the throttle all the way, and then easing back on it and I heard the ICE start up normally. Ever since then, it has been running fine. When it happened, the whole truck shuttered. Felt almost as if the ICE didn’t come on when it was supposed to. This is the first thread I’ve come across that had detailed the same issue.
Happened to me today I was what the hell was that never had a hybrid do that and have prius, and a kia niro nothing like this .

Could it be, the high volt battery doesn’t have enough juice left It’s hard to tell, but it felt like, truck runs smother at start up and at slow speeds with the heater off. Now it’s warm to use heat, will have to pay attention next winter. Engine generally runs smooth, hard to believe it would be the cause. I think it’s the motor or transmission.

Is everyone that is experiencing this in a cold climate or from both cold and warm?
I've experienced it in cold and warm (68 degrees or so).

I'm at about 3,200 miles and I've had this occur several times. There has been no discernable pattern. Sometimes it is not long after startup. Other times it has been after 50 miles into a trip. It has occurred in cold and warm weather (as low as 30 degrees and as high as 70 degrees). As user_3146 stated, it is like "running over ripples in the road and vibrates the entire vehicle." Letting off the gas and reapplying has been the solution. Hopefully FoMoCo will address the issue soon and make the needed updates/fixes.

Sounds like going over rumble strips.. I hope everyone that is having this issue has reported it to their dealer/Ford.

Happened again this morning and I was in electric mode maybe going 30.

I would report it if there was a way to do it without taking the car in. I don’t feel like taking it in there to sit and wait and be told nothing was found.

I hear you - I guess it's possible. By the feel of the accelerator, it seems to communicate more from the drive train than the brakes. I've never use the auto-hold (except once to test it shortly after getting the vehicle). I do use the e-brake daily since I park on a slight incline.
