I thought I got mine today... then it was sucked into the middle of my avatar .

I ordered a subaru outback a few years ago. From order to delivery was about 6 weeks. So, maybe in a normal market (without covid, chip and part shortages) and not being the first year of a new high demand vehicle, there will probably be a much quicker turnaround, and NO allotment system needed. We are definitely in the latter stages of that now. I so regret not going to a large dealership in Oct. As far as the allotment system, I just made a separate post about it now but if Ford is serious about shifting to a custom-order model then I really don't see any purpose at all to an allotment system. An allotment system seems to make sense for stock units only.
My understanding is the production dates are only getting moved a week here, two weeks there due to other constraints. It is the estimated delivery dates that are getting pushed out to May and June because they are producing them still but then settling them out in the parking lots waiting on chips to come inCongrats to everyone getting emails!
I wonder why they are continuing to send out production date emails when they can't even complete the trucks that have been "in production" for over a month?
I can only imagine everyone getting emails today will get pushed back. I am not trying to be negative, just keep this in mind when March comes around.
God Bless!
Ford isn't penalizing the customer, they just aren't rewarding the dealers who haven't performed well in the past. No participation trophies for them.Im OK with an allotment system. But at some point there should be a "OK we don't want to penalize a customer any further because of their dealership choice" mechanism.
I’ll be 8 months soonwow this is painful! I feel for you folks waiting since June. I keep seeing similar builds to mine ordered well after we did getting build notices. There aren't even constraints in my order.
The REAL hard ones to stomach are the lucky few who ordered two weeks ago with similar builds. Seen several of those. Congrats but FORD you are ruining you rep. if you want to move to this sales model. I don't think I will consider buying a new ford again honestly unless they fix this.
this allocation system sucks. Allocations should be for dealer orders only. Not for customers who place an order. Those should be put in line once confirmed. FIFO, first in first out regardless of where they bought it.
nobody should be waiting 5,6 months for similar builds that are going in 1, 2 weeks unless there are constraints for that build.
seriously thinking of bailing and buying another brand.
Well, enough whining for now.
congrats to those who got the magic letter.
I feel like the low volume small town dealer, and it's customers, are being penalized, based purely on sales volume, which is wrong. I would think a dealer's customer satisfaction scores would have more weight than volume. I've had several dealings with big city high volume dealers who were complete douchbags. Zero ethics. And several small town low volume dealers who treat you honestly & fairly, and want to earn your business.Ford isn't penalizing the customer, they just aren't rewarding the dealers who haven't performed well in the past. No participation trophies for them.
They could just build people's trucks...Small dealers are still getting allocations in line with their sales. So if you go to a small dealer and order and they are ordering Mavericks ina ratio normal to their business, you will probably get yours at the same time as a large dealer. Where you will go sideways at a small dealer is when their ratio gets out of whack. If they are getting an allocation of 3, but take in 3 dozen orders, well, Houston, there's going to be a problem for their customers.
Large dealers can get way sideways on allocations too. Take in way more orders than their allocation ratio. Ideally you want the Goldilocks dealer. And that's hard to know in advance.
Options? 11/13 Eco XLT order here and still nothing. Lux, FX4, 4KI ordered my Ecoboost on november 23 and got my build date for March 28th. Hope some of you got your emails, good luck!
Do you remember who your source was on that? Both of our trucks were shipped within a week or two of being built. One was a hybrid Lariat lux 360, and one is a hybrid First Edition, which was shipped yesterday. My understanding is the production dates are only getting moved a week here, two weeks there due to other constraints. It is the estimated delivery dates that are getting pushed out to May and June because they are producing them still but then settling them out in the parking lots waiting on chips to come in
Not defending it. Just explaining. Understanding what's going on will help people to build better expectations and make better informed decisions about their situation if they need to take action. They could just build people's trucks...
