My co-workers are now wagering which happens first: My Maverick gets delivered, or my 290,000 mile Volvo blows up.

Because Ford runs on a dealer allotment system, which means that they hate every single one of us. Or at least that's how it was explained to me.

Im OK with an allotment system. But at some point there should be a "OK we don't want to penalize a customer any further because of their dealership choice" mechanism.

Probably not. They are likely putting these Ecoboosts into the slots vacated by all the hybrids that got pushed back.

That does make sense. It looks like the majority of these are EB.

We are definitely in the latter stages of that now. I so regret not going to a large dealership in Oct. As far as the allotment system, I just made a separate post about it now but if Ford is serious about shifting to a custom-order model then I really don't see any purpose at all to an allotment system. An allotment system seems to make sense for stock units only.

We are definitely in the latter stages of that now. I so regret not going to a large dealership in Oct. Agreed. Me too, I just went to the dealership down the road. Didnt even know there was an allotment system (first new car buy for me)....

Maybe the system worked fine before (pre covid) and they were pumping out a ton of a given model every month. But something brand new with very high demand, with some supply constrains, is only going to magnify the problems with an allotment system. If this is how things are going to be in the future, which exactly what it will look like for Mavs/Lightnings/New Ranger, then they need to fix it.

Penalizing someone a half year because they didnt order from the right dealership is not fair. Month or two? Fine, but a half year? Thats messed up and unfair to the CUSTOMER.
