I had 146 mile to Empty showing, so roughly 827 mile range.

I'm impressed with this stat. Just wish the cost of fuel would be less. Can't beleive I have spent just $1400 for 13 months owning the truck.

I know the area well.

You can't regen a continuous 50kWh going down the largest hill in America. More like 5kWh. Still. 12,000 feet of elevation would help for sure.
That's why I was disallowing an additional backup battery of undetermined capacity.😇. I got 36mpg in a 1991 Chevy Caprice from Denver to Amarillo. Cruise would not work in it over about 10,400 feet as when at speed trans would drop ice to idle and fuel was too lean and ice would due. Ran fine in drive.

I was hovering around 800 MTE the whole tank. Was going to wait until it was official, but wanted to gas up before the holiday weekend.

The indicated mileage was within .05% compared to hand calculated mileage (51.7 vs 51.8). I adjusted it before the last fill up from the service menu as I found that it was 8-9% optimistic.

I adjusted mine down 5% about 5 months ago, so this is pretty realistic.
119 miles driven, gas needle still on full.
650 plus reserve left to go.

Stopped at a friend's place on the way home tonight for about 10 minutes. Left the key to run so it didn't reset the trip meter, or the clock. So really about a 36 minute drive. As shown above, I prefer Slippery mode.

Please bear (no claws) with me. First tank of gas, screen said I was at 581 miles and had one partial bar on the fuel gauge and next to it, it said 51 miles. I decided that was all good, but needed to fill up (short trip tomorrow) After the fill up, which took 12.79 gallons, the total mileage reading said 531 miles. So, I got 41.6 mpg.......pretty confused. What happened to the 581 miles?
The "581" is a GUESS the computer is making based on how much gas is left, and what kind of fuel economy the vehicle has been getting. If you start driving harder, milleage would go down. Drive more gentle, it could go up.

We gas up at a station up on a hill and when we leave the gas station and drive downhill the first couple miles the computer thinks we can go a LOT further than we always get...

I would say "the computer guess" the MPG is calculated from the last MPG the truck was getting until new data can be used.

Had to make it official. Lol. MTE reached zero right before pulling into the gas station. ~14.7 gallons to first click at the pump. Ford's MPG was conservative this tank, I may adjust it again after the next fill up.

I usually get between 50 and 60 mpg in nice weather. However its been cold.
This image is just before I filled up today. It only took 9.8 gallons.

That sounds amazing !!! Congratulation !!
My Mav hybrid has 6500 miles, and I never, ever, have got more than 43 mpg. I live in Central Florida, and I am trying to hypermile ALL the time. I am not expecting ever to see even 45 mpg !!
I have no clue how you get 60 mpg. Tell me your secret. Please !!

I wouldn't call it conservative, If you take 51.5x14.7 you get 721 Miles.. In my last filled I went 810 miles and averaged 58.8, and my truck took just shy of 14 gallons.

My dash stated I average 60.6 mpg, it's well documented that the truck over-states MPG.

I've already adjusted the mpg by around 8-9% as it was ridiculously optimistic. I'm going to track the next 2 tanks and see if I was a little too aggressive. Last tank was right on the money, so we'll see.

So I hit over 800 miles on one tank for the 1st time, and probably the last time unless I have a backup fuel tank with me.

812.2.jpg

I hit the "0 Mi to E" at 745 miles. From this point I set my Trip 2 to record the mileage after the gauge said I hit 0.

0 Miles to E.jpg

I usually fill up when I hit or are close to the system's estimate of zero miles left. In those cases my fill up would be anywhere between 13.7-14.1 gallons. After seeing a post of someone filling up to 16 gal I thought I would push my luck. I did have a 1 gal back up gas container after I hit zero, but will not plan to do this often. Unless you usually have a rack with backup fuel container just fill up. Not worth pushing it especially since you dont know what driving style you will use for those las 2-2.5 gallons. I made it to 67 miles past 0 so I assumed that I was at bout 15 gal used. I did my usual three clicks at the pump and I assumed wrong.

Trip 2 Data.jpg

I used 14.8 gal witch came out to 54.8 MPG on this tank (best ever was 55.7 mpg). I did take the freeways more than I thought I would and I also did a long drive from San Jose to Manteca during rush hour with an accident, about 60 miles one-way 120 roundtrip. On the way back I was not in traffic, so if someone in the central valley has a Maverick and they drive both ways on HY 680 and HY 580 what kind of MPGs and MPT are you getting?

Fill-up Pump.jpg

If the tank does actually hold 16.5 gal as on post suggested, the it could be possible to hit 900 miles on one tank, but I wont be trying that anytime soon. I might but not unless the conditions are right and I have time to get out on the side of the road with a filled backup tank.
my goodness you had to be the most annoying person to follow behind hypermiling that way... ;p :D just having fun wtih you...

Yes, but from what I gathered on here, I should be pushing 600-700 miles, not barely cracking 500 on fumes. I've only averaged 38mpgs also and my miles are 80-90% city
You're driving it wrong then, must have your foot to the floor, or your on the highway alot or in Sport mode. I'm only on my 2nd tank and getting over 600miles per fill up, now I drive 8.4 miles to work and back (suburb/ light country roads 25-50 mph) will do 5.4 miles in electric mode and says 52+mpg.

It helps if you're not using heater or air conditioning and don't exceed 45 mph.

Yes EV coach is helpful in slow moving conditions mostly.

Well that long traffic trip was on a segment of I-580, which was used by Mythbusters for a episode about traffic. It is used by many in the central valley that commute into/out of the bay area for work.

Yes, that LA traffic sucks. There is even traffic in some areas at night, and weekends.
All of 580 sucks . . . Unless you’re going the reverse commute direction.
