23 hybrid 24K miles averaging 43mpg and 24 hybrid 16K miles averaging 44mpg. Best tank 622 miles with 25to go on 23 mav. Haven’t pushed the 24 to see what I can get. I have made a short 120 mile trip on less than 2 gallons of gas hand calculated 63mpg. Best ever did on 23 was 57mpg.

once it runs dry and pumps air, does the computer shut it off as a safety precaution, or does it continue to get juice and pump until its own thermal cutoff (if it has one)?
It absolutely 100% shuts power off.
Maybe even BEFORE sucking any air.

The one time I ran it until the truck stopped to actually measure how much reserve I had:

No spitting or sputtering. No coughing or wheezing. No mis-fire / non-fire.

On shut off OR on restart after adding a gallon.

Zero evidence of air in the pump and zero evidence of air in the lines.

Conclusion: it won't let you harm it.
In retrospect knowing more now than I knew then, I don't think it actually ran dry. I think it hit a "low-low" tigger point and shut off for safety and component protection.

The truck never missed a beat during controlled shut off, then had a normal restart without missing a beat. Literally.

I'm positive there was no air in the lines.

That day I added 1 gallon from a can then drove 0.1 mile to a gas station and added 15.5 gallons at the pump. 16.5 total volume.

Since then I have added 17.0 gallons one time without the truck stopping.

These trucks are pretty well electronically controlled.

This is not your father's Oldsmobile.

This is one amazing little Hybrid AWD truck. Just like many others, I made it 616 miles on a tank of regular fuel with 125 miles to empty so we could have made it to 700. The first 220 mile were on a trip to Maryland and back driving 55-65 mph most of the way, then 2 weeks of driving to work and back.

Ford Maverick 600 Miles Per Tank Hybrid Maverick club 9-7-2025 Maverick 616.5 miles on tank of gas with 125 miles to empty. Fill up 13.1 gallons

So close! My mistake was taking the "wife alarm" along with me on this particular outing.

And yes, my mileage has been much better this summer. Does summer gas have less ethanol?

Throw a gallon in a gas jug in the back and run it out. My eb had 37 miles left past zero. I just had to know.

I didn't quite do it, but could have, is that good enough? 25 MAV Hybrid XLT AWD 4k. I needed to put some kilometers (miles) on it so I can an oil change before winter.

Ford Maverick 600 Miles Per Tank Hybrid Maverick club 1757554562978-wn

918.4km + 60 = 978.4km / 1.6 = 611.5 Miles

It's very hilly terrain, but got a 5.1 going to Sudbury on the first day. 5.3 on the 2nd day coming back, faster speed limits 90 - 110 km/h on a lot of the trip versus mostly 80km/h on the first day.

Fill up registered 5.5L/100km ~ 42 MPG

I did use cruise for the long uninterrupted stretches:

Eco = Switching to Electric when it has charge and engine load is reduced
Slippery = Never switching to Electric Mode (Not cruise friendly it seems).

Drove everything except the Red line (44km) , Mav's first ferry trip.

It's a Maverick. We're not going to need a bigger boat.
LOL, that raises a funny point, when I was booking the ferry ride, I selected pick up truck and it wouldn't accept my dimensions for the maverick, too small. I had to pick SUV instead to get it to accept the trucks size.

Wife alarm? I thought that only came with knee surgery. The ortho said that he considered the patient ready to drive once the wife stopped flinching and/or screaming. Yes, I gave him (the ortho) grief for that one. It should be once the shotgun passenger stops grabbing the wheel. =p

Interesting observation on Slippery mode, opposite of normal recommendation.
Perhaps your terrain was going to need ICE level of power anyway, anything above 15% (for 25MY) in any mode is going to turn on ICE basically. Or abouts 62 MPH.

Most comment that Slippery allows a better adaptive cruise control response, so that if it was in electric it'll slow the power response rate such it has a better chance to stay in electric.

That is excellent mileage though on a good varied terrain. Use the AC much?

Don’t know if it really counts if you don’t actually drive the 600 on a tank. That miles to empty can drop like a rock. This is my 2nd tank of 600 miles on my 23 hybrid. I would have drove a bit further to go a bit more than 600 but was close to my favorite service station. I got like 622 miles the first time I pushed the limits. I also have a 24 hybrid haven’t pushed it to see I usually fill. It up at 1/2 tank. Did get 63 mpg on a 120 mile trip right after fill up, that should have been an easy 600, but was so curious if the trucks trip computer was accurate as it was show like 67mpg the 63 was hand calculated.
Last photo not of a 600 mile tank, but I’m rather proud of that 24.1mpg as it was a round about trip from east Arkansas to California an back in my 2019 F150 supercrew 4x4. Note the 5600+ miles and the 875 mile range. It had an extended range gas tank 36 gallon. One tank was all California driving 800 miles on a tank never had pay for that high$ California gas. I sure wish the hybrid Mavericks had the eco fuel tank 700+ tanks with no worries then.
