ForScan mod - enable all drive modes: eco, sport, mud and snow (confirmed working)

Dumb question, but is there any noticeable difference for MPG with eco mode selected on FX4? I'm pretty tempted to do this with gas prices on the rise if so lol. Might use sport mode from time to time. I'm in Michigan and averaging ~22 MPG (30% highway, 70% city) as a rough estimate.

Yes. I have been using Eco mode a lot on my FX4 with 4K towing. It downshift less often and less severely (number of gears). It also upshifts sooner. It also takes a little longer to regain speed when using cruise control for hills and grades. It gains speed slower.

All results in about 1-2 MPG gain over a whole tank in my use. Some may get more. But you have to remember to press ECO mode every time.

i also noticed auto start/stop gets disabled in sport mode.

since eco mode just reduces pedal response and changes gear change speeds id say it depends on your current driving style. if you have a twitchy right foot, as I do sometimes, it'll probably smooth you out and help with mpg.
currently, I don't see any downside to adding some options for myself to play with.

After reading through this thread, It was alluded to, but I don't think it was addressed directly. Is there a way to change the "default" driving mode? so if I wanted to drive in Eco mode most of the time I wouldn't have to click to the mode every time I got in the truck.

If there is it is not known how to do so on the owner end so far. Even if it was possible it is not a good idea to start out in anything but default anyways. There is always one who will start up in lets say mud / ruts mode with the FX4 package and destroy their transmission driving down the highway at 60+ and thinking the vibration is a wheel out of alignment. It is a liability issue for Ford.

Fair enough, however, I don't think anything we are doing in this thread is Ford approved right? I see what you are saying, but it would be nice if you could set the "default" to eco instead of normal in forscan. If its not possible, then I guess its a moot point.

Approval in this case is implicit. If they didn't want it done they'd do a better job to make it non accessible to the customer. Anything they thought was important enough is non-programmable anyways.

While it's true that certain modes might present issues, there's no reason why Eco mode shouldn't be allowed as a default mode...

Hey guys, made a quick video if anyone is struggling getting Eco and Sport mode enabled on an FX4. Pretty straight forward, but this might help a few folks.

Fun!! I used "easy mode" and enabled mud/snow and deep sand drive mode options but after selecting those modes it says drive mode not available. This post should resolve this for me. I was waiting for someone to figure it our!

Shortcut makes all them selectable, not usable. If you have a non FX4 package the mud /ruts and snow options will give you a drive mode error message when you try to use them. Vice versa for a FX4 package and eco and sport mode. You can also hide the options in any combination if you want so they are not selectable.

You have 2 options to enable them to make those modes usable.

Method 1 is to swap the active packages aka non FX4 for FX4 and vice versa, that only makes either set of modes usable.

Method 2 is to disable the packages and make all 4 modes usable.

B.there isn’t one OP is just letting us know what happens if you only do half the procedure
C. I have all seven modes on my xl awd using method 2. Using method 2 you don’t have to do anything in easy mode.
D. You disable the abs option in easy mode if not doing method 2.
E. It can and has been done in easy mode. I personally don’t like using easy mode cause you can’t see what it’s actually doing. And doing method 2 is still pretty easy.

All you need to do is go in to abs as built and change
760-04-01 code to
xxxx-xxxx-x0xx the x’s are w/e they are on your truck. Just need to change the third from last digit to 0

And change
760-04-03 to
0000-0001-EB5A

That gives you all seven drive modes working.

I know I had to read this thread a few times. Maverick2022xl gave us all the information and what all the values represent which is awesome but can be info overload to us noobs scared of borking our brand new trucks.

Glad my post helped you out. I think forscan updated the easy mode and it made this super easy to do. The first post talking about changing specific numbers is the hard mode, but also means you actually know what you are changing.

Hey Man, can you confirm that you now have:
Normal
Tow/Haul
Slippery
Eco
Sport
Mud/Ruts
Sand/Snow

And that they are all selectable and usable?
