After 8 months Of no word on schedule, Ive lost the excitment of my Oct 2nd order of the rapid red, FE, AWD. I looked at a 2020 Ranger Lariat with 16,000 miles and for the same price as the Maverick. I think the excitement is back and will jump ship?

I am sorry to hear of your loss of excitement. Yes I believe having to wait so long does not help. As for me I had been looking for a replacement for my 2000 extended cab XLT Ranger and I could not see myself getting a new Ranger due to the much larger size. I was happy when the Maverick was announced. It is sized just right for me and has the added benefit that you can get it as a hybrid which is another thing I was looking for. Mine is built and being shipped so there is a light at the end of the tunnel for me.

The Ranger is a fine truck. But it doesn't get 40+ mpg in the city and it isn't as small as the Maverick. I actually want small. I've owned my F-150 for a decade and the Maverick will leave a lot more room in the garage and it is all the truck I actually need.

But the Ranger is fine truck and if someone needs a bigger bed and higher tow capacities then nothing wrong at all with snagging a low mileage, still under warranty ranger at the same price as the new Maverick

The only downside I can see is supposedly the Ranger is going to get an extensive redesign 2023 and it might be worthwhile to see what that looks like,

If I got sick of waiting or if the "excitement was gone" I'd be more inclined to look at the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Same size, the looks grow on me. But I won't because I want the better gas mileage, the Santa Cruz gets damn expensive in anything other than base and I want that hybrid gas mileage!!

Ordered mine (XLT/LUX/360) in July. My sales rep sent me a video of it coming off the carrier on March 28. I actually had a touch of buyer's remorse before I even took delivery and was totally prepared to walk away if they wanted even a dollar more than the "Build Your Maverick" price.
Took delivery March 30th, Dealership was great (Larson Ford, Lakewood NJ) and after 2+ months and about 2500 miles, this little truck (yes, it is, and feels, like a small truck as opposed to a car with a bed) has proven to be worth the wait. If you're expecting an entry-level vehicle at this price point, you are going to be pleasantly surprised...

I really liked my 20 Ranger but like a lot fo us I got the Maverick "lovin feeling" so sold it and brought home my Maverick in Dec 2021. Great little truck, since I got the 2.0 gas mileage was not paramount but as fuel prices creep up its def a benefit. Having said that if the new Ranger model comes out with a single cab I might sell the Maverick and buy one. I still like the old school single cab short bed pickups but they are a dying breed since few manufacturers sell many here.

I think you will be happy with a 20 Ranger and mileage isn't bad.

🤣 that pic is priceless.

I waited 9mons, and considered cancelling ... but got a towing mid-size in addition to the Mav for light towing.

I still like the old school single cab short bed pickups but they are a dying breed since few manufacturers sell many here.
Diesel is another dying breed.

After waiting mons on my Mav (and back then several issues sounded bad for Mav), I bought a used diesel Chevy Colorado. Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Dodge don't make a mid-size diesel -- only Chevy did, and GM just dropped the 4cyl diesel last year. So long, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

I REALLY feel for those of you that placed orders last summer and still no Maverick!!!
That is ridiculously wrong of Ford to do that to you all.
My order was 8-7-21, it was a Lariat Lux Hybrid, I never dropped any options to speed delivery, and I received it 2-16-22. Now why in the world did I get mine, and you folks haven't gotten yours?

I think August is when the orders really started flying. I ordered my Hybrid XLT in late August, like Aug 25 or so.... and I received mine May 31. I think there was a huge difference between early August and late August.
As for the mental aspect of handling the wait, I just told myself after a few months that you know what, if I ever get it, I'll believe it. But part of me figured it's just too good to be true, and good things don't happen for me and bla bla bla....
Well then it showed up and it's been great and it's weird to say this but my whole attitude about life has improved because of it. I'm on a high.
Like when Ohio State wins a national championship, I feel good for about a month!

Personally a newer ranger is probably the only truck I would never think about replacing the mav with. I'm not loyal to a company but I would be looking at Tacomas if I didnt care about the value and fuel economy that I am getting with the Mav.

For those talking mid-sized trucks, Ford, GM, and Toyota all have new trucks coming out in the next year or so. I wouldn't buy a new mid-sized right now with the new models right around the corner unless you find a really really good deal.

I ordered my Lariat Hybrid Lux 360 end of Sept. Got a build date of 6/13 a week ago.
Fingers crossed and breath being held...

I ordered in November. CG Lariat EB, no lux, with 360. I was doing pretty well but did get excited on Apr 14th when I received a build week of 23 May. Since then, I have been moved back three times and am now on June 21st. I am finding the build date moving back is more demoralizing than the previous just waiting. Now I am seeing production dates getting dragged out and delivery taking longer than ever. Ford said they were not going to send out any emails until the build was confirmed. We all bitched about that, but I think they perhaps they should have stuck with that. No news vs bad news? I know, at least I have a build date so why am I whining? Human nature and it really does suck..... and there is more to come!!! Excitement continues to decrease.
I have gotten moved 5 times since May 16th. Dealer in Md. Now 6 times.
