Ford needs to get it stuff together with marketing and delivery of the Maverick, if Toyota enters this market niche. They also will not be able to just be happy with what they have now and will need to bring the changes that the customer wants.

To me, the Maverick is a great product for today; it needs to change with time to remain a great product.

Toyota can't compete with the Maverick - best shot they have is a Rav-4 based Santa Cruz competitor; Toyota cannot get a product to market for less than $25k.

The only two businesses that have platforms that can be exempt from the "chicken tax" are Jeep and Nissan - VW could, but I think they've thrown their $ at EV.

If Nissan brought back their little hardbody trucks (minus the crap transmissions they're putting into their vehicles these days) it would be all over but the crying. Those trucks were indestructible!
