No sympathy if you weren’t prepared from the beginning for a couple year wait, and couldn’t see the obvious. Just look to the Bronco. If you didn’t expect a similar situation with a popular vehicle, in these times, then you were being foolish….. yet came on here to complain about it 🙄
Some buyers were told six weeks. I was told between March-August in my base hybrid xl order in October and I still don’t have a build date. In my case, I don’t think my salesman lied . I think both he and I didn’t think Ford could bungle their opportunity window as much as they have. I do think some dealerships just flat out lied to customers.

When I ordered mine back in July of last year, my dealer said something along the lines of 2-3 months. I told him there's absolutely no way. Hybrid isn't even approved for sale yet. This will be at least 6-7 months. (Took 8). The majority of dealers are so clueless it's embarassing. If anyone hasn't bothered to do minimal research online and then are angered when what they were told wasn't true... that's on them.
That said, I totally feel for anyone who's received mixed/untrue correspondence from Ford directly. Not really their fault when the truck is built and transport is the issue. But the emails telling people their truck'll be built next week then another email later saying "whoops! No.... another 2 months. Sorry!".... That's unacceptable.

After 8 months Of no word on schedule, Ive lost the excitment of my Oct 2nd order of the rapid red, FE, AWD. I looked at a 2020 Ranger Lariat with 16,000 miles and for the same price as the Maverick. I think the excitement is back and will jump ship?
Do it. Jump ship. Take the plunge.

I also ordered from Larson. Great news about your experience with Larson. Did you get what you wanted on your trade-in price? Was your salesman Robert ? Did they take their time explaining the gear shift, video screen, drive modes, etc.?
I didn't trade a vehicle in (my daughter will be getting her license soon and will be taking over my Hyundai Santa Fe). Robert was my salesman; very pleasant to deal with. He was very thorough in explaining the various features and set up my Ford Pass App. All around positive experience, although I ordered a tonneau cover a few weeks ago and have not heard anything since although the parts counter guy said they would have it in a few days🤷‍♂️.
Good luck with your new truck!
