Tailgate not level with bed.

Im sorry but seriously wtf. People claiming to be engineers and wondering what the problem is with a gate that sits lower than the bed… it’s fucking WORTHLESS if it doesn't hold ANY of the load. What am I misunderstanding about this?!? What is different compared the gate literally MISSING from the truck?

Also I’m toasty on Christmas Eve Merry Christmas!

I think this is a first purchase let alone a first truck for a lot of people. They act like I said their baby is ugly. I'm excited about this little truck and it will be quite functional once I fix it up the way I want it. Thought this is what forums are for not just to validate some Millenials first vehicle purchase.

Yeah, the chute/retro rocket fired at -200 feet due to unit conversion oversight, or lack of.
Regarding the Maverick, has anyone put a metric protractor on it to verify level?

As the title suggests, the cables are too long and the tailgate is not level with the bed. It is also not level with the wheel wells when in the half-up position.

People have pointed this out before reacting to pictures and I assumed it was optical illusion but my Sola don't lie.

Me too. 1976 when I was 18 y/o, worked at La Mesa Auto parts as a parts runner and stock room grunt. Funny enough, the delivery fleet vehicles were Datsun King Cabs which were the 1st extended cab compact trucks in USA AFAIK. I hated the way they looked as I was used to only single cab mini trucks being worthy. Full circle back to 2021 and I ordered a Maverick that only comes in Crew Cab configuration Along the way I owned 2 Ranger Super Cabs and we have a 2018 F-150 which is also a S cab. My younger self would still hate anything but single cab, but I've found our S Cab F-150 and the Maverick at least look proportional from side profile instead of exaggerated with too long or short bed and hood. Being older I do appreciate the extra room behind front seats while having enough functional bed space to meet my needs

Yeah I might do a little research on some other cable options.

The problem with parts stores these days is the kids behind the counter get so confused if they can't just type in the make and model... I have better luck shopping online most times because I can type the make and model just as easy. But if you are doing anything custom they get this look on their face like "don't waste my time old man" or "I wasn't trained for this... Year, Make and model please?"

I do a lot of custom motorcycle work and have had this experience enough that I have to be pretty hard pressed to go into a parts store for anything I can't grab off the shelf. I would sooner wait for it to come in the mail.

The closest would be the 21" but I am not sure if they are measuring center to center or end to end. It's also for a 350 super duty so it might be for beefier hardware. Amazon.ca sells singles for 11.99. I will order one and report back.

I don't access to a truck yet so I appreciate the post. I'll be keeping an eye out for a Ford answer as to why this was intended or an oops. At the risk of extending this post any farther.........too late........take a look at Gate King............and their site will crash in 3-2-1.

I did look at Gate King but it looks like too many moving parts for my liking. At that price I would probably just fab something lik the DG braces I posted earlier.

I will probably replace the stock aircraft cable with metal bars with a hinged pivot points in the middle.

Just like my 92 Toyota.
