Should I get a trailer hitch with a 2" or 4" drop? With my hybrid XLT I'd like to tow the following:
-UHaul trailer
-Jet ski trailer
-ATV trailer

Make sure you use some sort of a drop, a straight one will sit too high & hit the trailer latch if you open the tailgate. The reciever is pretty low and a drop is almost not needed.
I have a Harbor Freight Trailer and use a 2" drop with it.
Even at 2", it still leans forward a little bit. I assume a bigger trailer with larger tires would make it pitch even more to the front.
I've thought about trying a 1" drop, or straight even, but it hasn't bothered me enough yet.
On the aforementioned rig that I measured this past weekend, I got a 4" difference between the top of the 2" opening and the lowest part of the tailgate (the Ford oval) when the tailgate was dropped. So it should clear the ball, but probably not the coupler/actuator.Make sure you use some sort of a drop, a straight one will sit too high & hit the trailer latch if you open the tailgate.
