Should I get a trailer hitch with a 2" or 4" drop? With my hybrid XLT I'd like to tow the following:

-UHaul trailer
-Jet ski trailer
-ATV trailer

measure your trailers first. you may need more than one size

Depends on the trailer. With the factory hitch, a 2" drop would be perfect for a U-Haul, but I need a 4" drop for my utility trailer.

The reciever is pretty low and a drop is almost not needed.
I have a Harbor Freight Trailer and use a 2" drop with it.
Even at 2", it still leans forward a little bit. I assume a bigger trailer with larger tires would make it pitch even more to the front.

I've thought about trying a 1" drop, or straight even, but it hasn't bothered me enough yet.

You may want to spend a little more and get one that is adjustable rather than buying different drops for different trailers. They're all probably going to require a different drop. A 2" drop was perfect for my trailer use.

I got an adjustable hitch for my Maverick. They are more expensive but are necessary if pulling more than 1 trailer.

Make sure you use some sort of a drop, a straight one will sit too high & hit the trailer latch if you open the tailgate.

On the aforementioned rig that I measured this past weekend, I got a 4" difference between the top of the 2" opening and the lowest part of the tailgate (the Ford oval) when the tailgate was dropped. So it should clear the ball, but probably not the coupler/actuator.

PS: if anyone finds a 1" drop/0" rise ball mount, let me know. I'm about ready to buy a chunk of steel and spend some time at a Bridgeport to create one,,,,,
