Dropped my Maverick to the dealer on monday, got it back on wednesday afternoon.
For the second time they removed every trim possible that could be the culprit and road tested the truck. The noise was still there. After exhausting all their options, they agreed to reseal the windshield. Obviously this procedure is done by a windshield shop.
After driving it for 2 days, I can say that I don't hear the clicking noise anymore! They removed and reinstalled the original windshield. They still checked if a replacement windshield was available just in case it broke during the procedure.
So far I think I'm the third one stating that resealing the windshield fixes the issue.

Thanks for the update. What I'm hoping is that as more and more people bring the issue to Ford's attention, and it becomes clear it's a windshield seal issue, that Ford will issue an official service bulletin to dealers instructing them on what to do. This will make it much easier on both dealerships and customers, as neither will have to waste a lot of time haggling over to how best address the problem.

@Ford Motor Company are you listening?

Well 600 miles in and i have a rattle/squeak as well. My is not as noticable yet, But i fear it may be the same thing....seems worse with colder weather......really not looking forward to going back to the dealer again with less that 1000 miles, seems like me and the dealer will be co-owning this Maverick while i foot the payments.....

Hi Joe! I can look into your Maverick's dash rattle concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Maverick's VIN?

Nice! I've been working with my dealer on this as well. Originally they were trying to tell me it was my radar detector cable. Take that out, of course the sound is still present. Luckily my windshield has some black dot right in my line of view no one can explain. Finally got approved for a new windshield and looking more and more hopeful it will resolve this click/rattle. Windshield is due to be replaced finally early next week. Truck has been at the dealer for almost 2 weeks now.

So far it seems to be the only resolution is window seal. I am going back and taking the technician for a ride to ā€œduplicateā€ it for him…it happens the whole time you drive and it’s not quiet so I think they never even drove it; my hope is they will come to the conclusion to re-seal it.

I may just go to Safelite and avoid the blood pressure rise and have it resealed on my own lol.

I would of gladly kept my original if there wasn't the black dot issue (I think it was just a mfg. defect when it was being laminated and something got in there). Luckily this was a loophole for me for them to replace it. With it being an intermittent rattle and definitely seems to be related to the relative temperature difference of the Windshield to the body, the tech was having a hard time to get it to rattle every test drive. Mine is most prevalent if it's below freezing out and then turning on the defrost heat and driving for a few minutes. If it's between say 32 and 50, can still get it to rattle but depends if truck was parked in garage vs. outside, is sun shining on windshield, etc.

I have the same issue (same symptoms) and my truck is at the dealer now. Just wondering how they're gonna fix it....if I can push for a new windshield, I will. Thanks.

I should learn how to read šŸ˜‚thanks!
It's not entirely uncommon to have to remove a windshield and reinstall it. If they're careful enough, they won't break the glass and can simply reinstall it. If they do break it, well, that's what the warranty or their liability is for. That said, it's a good idea to ensure that they have or can quickly get a replacement if something happens.

For reference, Ford has had some issues at other plants where they've issued recalls to do just that due to defective installation. There's a pretty big one on Broncos (not Bronco Sport built on the same line as Maverick, but the big ones built in Michigan).

Argh, I’ve had my truck for less than a day but it clearly has this issue. Really hoping it doesn’t ā€˜disappear’ when it warms up next week because I really don’t want to listen to it even if it’s just when it gets cold. Will definitely be taking it in at some point next week.

With this being so common why is Ford not fixing the problem on the assembly line?

In my case the ticking was not dependent on temperature at all.
