Is anyone else surprised by how small the washer fluid reservoir is.

Yes, I did see that, but I don’t believe I see a confirmation of; that, or any other ideas, as a confirmed fix?
Well,,,,, since I peeled back the fender liner and snapped the connector together, the low-alert has never come back on. Obviously a warranty issue, but easy enough for me to take care of myself.

That's not true. I've filled mine twice. I still had washer fluid and the tank took nearly a gallon in both cases. i DON'T WHERE YOU GUYS GET THIS.
User error. With the design of the spout, I can see it getting a big air lock if someone just started pouring aggressively.

Agree. I had my light come on this morning. Went out with a brand new gallon and slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwly poured it. I could tell just from the sound that it was alternating a bit between accepting fluid and letting air escape. Not like a massive "glug glug" like the gallon jug would do, but you know what I mean. Even when I got to the point where I could see the fluid rising into the neck of the reservoir, it still did a bit of shifting of fluid level (downward). I paused a moment and then filled it the rest of the way. Took about..... 5/6th of a gallon? More than 3/4 of a gallon, but definitely still some left in the jug when I was done.

My low windshield washer fluid alert activated repeatedly yesterday on a road trip.
It would come on for 2-5 minutes then go off, only to come back on about 20 minutes later.
Happened at least a dozen times without having used the windshield washer.
Later after using it judiciously and repeatedly due to annihilating many bugs, I figured I was probably truly low.
I bought a gallon of washer fluid at Sheetz when I stopped to get fuel.
Initially the reservoir took about 2/3rds of the fluid.
I leaned against the truck repeatedly to get it to move slightly and had over a half dozen large air bubbles surface.
I was able to get all but maybe 2 oz of the gallon of washer fluid into the reservoir.
I made sure to spray my windshield with washer fluid 3x on the drive home.
Once home I added the remaining washer fluid from the gallon I bought yesterday, then rocked the truck a bit and added the little bit of washer fluid I had in the other gallon.

TLDR: Gently rock your truck to cause the air bubbles to rise and you should be able to fill the reservoir with nearly a full gallon, if not the whole gallon.

I agree, used to be you'd know it was empty when stuff stopped coming out of it! Of course, those were the days when you checked the tire pressures and popped the hood to check the coolant and oil before you took a 3 hour trip. Times sure have changed but you can see why vehicle costs have gone up so much... airbags, TP sensors, auto headlight sensors, washer fluid sensors, etc.
It's funny because every windshield washer fluid sensor is essentially the same for every car manufacturer and it might be the most simple sensor inside of a car. There are two prongs on the sensor. The fluid completes the connection between the two prongs. When the fluid drops below this sensor, there is no fluid to bridge a connection between the two prongs anymore, which trips the sensor and displays "low washer fluid"

On my Fiesta I would have to give the car a good shake which would free a big bubble, I could usually get another half to 3/4 of a quart in after that.
I think that's a pretty good practice on most cars, or fill what you can at the station/store then top it off again after driving home.

It appears that the reservoir holds about 1 1/2 - 2 cups or 12 - 16 ounces. It is as small as the 1970’s era cars that used a soft bag like reservoir. There are plenty of places under the hood for a larger container on my hybrid. Disappointing. Glad I no longer live in snow country. Anyone else out there notice this?

I love my Maverick but, this could have better.
The first time I ran out of fluid filled it but light never went out. First oil change they put it out. Now just keep it filled. No biggy and the only problem I ever had so life is good in maverick land.

Uhoh, on second thought I hope you’re not trying to fill a coolant reservoir… the hybrid has 2 coolant reservoirs, one for the engine and the other for the high voltage battery… the washer reservoir is next to the headlight..
I have a 2024 and the washer fluid tank is in the fender, passenger side, and fill spout is in alignmet with the shock tower/top of coil spring. My wife had a 2015 escape and that tank was just ahead of the front tire on the passenger side and very low. A squirrel or a rat chewed up several wires one night and the low fluid sensor was one that I had to repair. My Maverick tank in the fender is long and narrow, not conducive to repair or replacement.

Anyone know where I can find a tutorial of how to change the wiper reservoir assembly? Apparently I have mouse damage and the dealer is telling me this is a six hour job

When did washer fluid reservoirs become part of the fender. Long narrow and filled from the center but not from the highest point. I prefer old school square box in the corner of the engine compartment where you can see how full it is.
Maybe we just need to park facing up an incline to fill this. Is there a Ford recommended incline for filling this?

Question/answer has been beaten to death already, but if you are more of a visual learner, here is what it looks like when not installed. Much more than 16 ounces. I can also echo what many others said about dumping a gallon in. When I bought mine, dealer definitely did not top it off from the factory. I stopped by a gas station and poured an entire gallon in.

I don't see a problem.

I have a 2000 model year car with the reservoir in the fender, so at least 25 years ago. It's never posed an issue for me.

It's accessed by removing the fender/wheel liner. It's hardly a 6-hour job.
