I find that three coats of wax on the front helps stop the bug juice from digesting your clear coat. And a bucket of water with a little dish soap works pretty well. Start by wetting an area with the wet soapy rag, let it sit for a bit and then scrub those little buggers off, rewax.

I can't recall having this issue with the Maverick. I have had a parking pawl get stuck due to parking on a hill. I used the exact same D rings with M8 bolts 1.25 thread. These are rated for 1,000 lbs each, which is overkill. They are in addition to factory tiedowns and provide two more connect points on each side. I will not be hauling an upright refrigerator in the Maverick.
