Are you talking about Maverick Hybrids only or all Mavericks?
What do you do if there are no trucks going 55 MPH? Here In California they run at 60-70 MPH. Just drive 55 anyways or just forget the whole idea?
Just for a comparison I recently got a quote from Safelite for the windshield on my 2002 Explorer. $246.83. That's with a $45 discount they sent me after I didn't bite at the first quote.
I keep a cheap Harbor Freight plug kit in my truck. I've used one a few times on my Explorer and I did have a handle break. Grabbed my vise grips and completed the job.
About a year ago I replaced the original starter on my 2002 Explorer at 160,000 miles.
I got lucky when it went out Advance Auto Parts was closing all of their stores in my area and I picked up a reman for $5.
I guess that you can put the two or three thousand dollars in a CD or high yield savings account instead of an extended warranty and use that to pay for any repair bills.
I'm just not sure if that will cover all repairs.
Some parts alone can run over a thousand dollars each and hourly rates...
That sounds like good advice.
I'm still not sure what option makes the most economic sense. Pay more to get service done by an honest shop or get service done cheaper under an extended warranty.
So I shouldn't buy an extended warranty because paying an independent repair shop to do needed repairs is going to be cheaper? How do I know if an independent repair shop is honest or not?
Why would technology designed to lower 1970's era vehicles emissions work on modern much more sophisticated low emission vehicles?

Have you used any of your saved oil filters to resolve a dispute with a dealer? And if you did how did you prove to them the old filters came from your vehicle that was under warranty and not some other one?
Saving old oil filters to prove you changed your oil is an interesting idea. I'm not sure if that's easier or better than just saving your receipts for a dated proof of purchase.
Has anyone saved their old filters and used them in a disputed warranty claim? If so please chime in and let us all...
Thanks for the link.
Top Tier gasoline doesn't have different detergent level ratings for the different octane ratings it's available in. Nice to know.
