it's one of the easier modifications to make to add cruise buttons and enable it on your '22 XL.
Oh I know. I just don't want to mod anything until it's paid off.. šŸ˜ƒ

Iā€™m not really big on Fordā€™s passenger car line outside of the Mustang, but I admire their trucks and the Bronco.

Iā€™ve been a two-time VW Golf GTI owner, and after I had paid-off my 2016 I needed a four-wheel drive vehicle for the PNW winters that my GTI is absolutely useless in, and also serving as a replacement for an aging 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I looked at Tacoma, Frontier and Ranger, all in crew cab 4x4 config, and I couldnā€™t justify more than $45k new and even used prices are ridiculous.

Maverick sold me on price and features (EcoBoost AWD at under $30k MSRP), and Fordā€™s reputation for their trucks (debatable, but the 1993 Ranger my Dad had was pretty solid). The test drive sealed the deal it as it drove like a crossover SUV than typical body-on-frame truck and went to place an order almost a year ago on September 16th and took delivery in June of this year.

You're in luck, because the last of those was produced in 2021. Ford does not make anything but trucks and suvs, except for the Mustang and Mach-E.

The Maverick is Ford's cheapest starting price model, and when you look at things they used to offer like the Fiesta, EcoSport, etc it's clear that Ford doesn't care to compete with the Nissan, Mitsubishi and Kia small cars and hatchbacks.

I think I know the answers ........at least for me....... I had not bought a brand new vehicle in 28 years let alone a Ford until I bought the Mav in May of 22. After I found the Mav, found r/FordMaverickTruck or whatever it is on Reddit and then found MTC, I asked questions, became confident (or crazy) and ordered a Ford product.

What made you switch?
The reason I ordered a Ford Maverick is because it was the truck I have been looking for. I wanted a small truck fits in garage, good gas mileage Hybrid 41 MPG, price out the door all in under 24K. I don't think I would be so fast to order again now that the price is up more than 3K and knowing how Ford can't seam to figure out how to build first ordered first out. They have had 100 years to figure it out but still can't seam to get the parts to show up when they need them, not that any other car maker is any better. I ordered a Toyota they are even worse, you order from them what you want they give you what ever they have, nothing like what you order different color different options , tell you this is what they are sending 14 months later. I think my ordering days are over, if not on the lot I will buy used or go with out.

I am not brand loyal anything with that said the reasons where the following.

First and most importantly I was in the market for a replacement truck for my prior one that decided to have major issues at around 250K. It was time to retire it and get something else. Why a Maverick and not something else, it ticked all the boxes. I could do light to mid duty work with it and also use it as a daily driver, the gas mileage and price.

Would have bought almost any brand if it was a small hybrid truck, but would have preferred a plug in. The price was the clincher, although it cost almost twice the advertised low low price by the time I parked it in my garage. Lots of recalls, but that is normal nowadays, and shows they have to take care of their customers. My MPG is through the roof most times.

I was a long-time GM guy. Worked for GM for 15 years. I wanted a small truck when I heard about the Maverick. Everything pointed to it being an excellent choice - right size, 4 doors, truck bed that holds 4x8 sheets and great gas mileage. Ordered a fully loaded Lariat at a great price in June 2021. My Maverick arrived Feb 2022. The next week I drove from Delaware to Cape Cod. I was sold. With the Co-Pilot360 the truck basically drives itself. On the highway it is a dream. I love it. Best vehicle I have ever owned.

I have owned Fords before (2 new Escorts in the 80s) but also cars and trucks from Chevy, Dodge, and Subaru. I have always liked the unibody small truck format since the days of the Subaru Brat. I had been following the Santa Cruz since it was a concept car. Well, the Santa Cruz is only available in the Northeast with all wheel drive and dealer's market adjustment fee so despite an okay test drive, I was not shelling out over 45k when I could get a hybrid Maverick under 25. I waited 11 months for a base XL (just a trailer hitch) and am very happy so far. It replaces a 15 year-old scion with 250k miles that was falling apart so any new vehicle would be an improvement. For snowy days I still have a 96 Ram that I use to plow which otherwise sits unless I am getting something large from Lowes. That means FWD is more than enough. First trip was NY to Boston and back on a single tank of gas (500+ miles). That makes me very happy as does the extra money in my wallet.

I am a Volvo wagon guy. I've had many. Also, I have had 2 pickups - Tacoma and a Ranger. My 2005 Volvo V70 was getting on in miles and age. When I heard of the Maverick I had to have one. Front wheel drive with 40 MPG plus more utility than a wagon? So far so good. I've done a lot of hauling from mulch to boats to bike and kayaks. No complaints and it is very comfortable.

I was on my 4th Audi when I got the Maverick. Got upset that Audi covered timing chains on some models and not mine. Mine went at 60K and it's a chain. I also retired and didn't need anything fancy. The Mav fit the bill and for the past 15 months has been terrific.

My first and only Ford was my first car. It was a 1964 Ford Galaxy 500XL four door with a 302 and bucket front seats. Never owned another Ford. Was looking at getting a F150 in 2015 but the cost was close if not over $60,000. I was not going to spend that much on a pickup truck. So when the Maverick came out I was happy I could get one for a lower price. Ordered a hybrid XL so I can flat tow it behind my motorhome.

I came from a 2016 prius C, I always wanted a truck but didn't wanna sacrifice the MPG.... with the mavericks price tag and almost the same MPG I was sold, traded my Prius in for 14,000 and got my 23 Maverick for $29,000 out the door

Same for me.
I had a 2012 Lexus CT and wanted a truck, was going to get a Tacoma, but the Mav just made so much more sense in terms of size and mileage.

Ditto to all of the previous comments, wifey had an Econoline van in a previous life, want to say, "Hippy" but the word is confusing because she had become a CPA, her former husband was a schmuck. We'd had 3 Focus's (coupe and two wagons) prior to the fleet of Toyotas, the 22 XLT hybrid Maverick had what the XL didn't have and has proven itself over and over, we've had it for eleven months and have driven over fourteen hundred miles on all types of roads dragging the camper, even flooded, washed out roads in New England, where we inched along because it was hard to see the center line under the flood waters, I know stupid but it was the only road out, say that to the six people that were following me.........love my Maverick hybrid, don't need FX4 only gets you twice as stuck, twice as far back in the woods, I know this from experience.
