Makes me want to see if I can get some Grabber Blue to repaint my Mav with. My dad had a '73 in that color. When I told him I was getting my truck he said, "that's not a Maverick, and the blue is wrong". Lol.
That's the beauty of this size.. Now I don't get everybody and their mother asking me to help them move their house ,unless it fits.. so far the largest I had to do was a king size box spring and mattress.. With the help of a bed extender....
On my old Dakota I used the metal version of that.. was originally intended to use as 'mesh rain gutter protectors'. Same install- zip tied to the back of the grill.
It's harder for me to do this on this truck with the grill but I'll get it eventually..
That's about the size of a tablet. Consider something like a 'cup holder tablet mount', like this? Instead of covering up the factory screen?

not trying to endorse Amazoin but that came up in a quick Google search..
Main reason was that I needed another vehicle to replace my well driven and wrenched on Dodge Dakota. It got to the point that replace versus repair was the better option financially overall.
Then it came down to timing and nostalgia since the Maverick was introduced at the same time that I was...
RE- posting since the original pics were not edited correctly... I hope these help. The license plate is not 'covered' . It's viewable from almost every angle .

I have it on this truck, carried over from my last truck. License plate is covered more that the weathertech item, but it's not really 'covered' since you can see it at different angles.
I had the SES ones for my 2005 Dakota for 13 yrs then I traded it in for my Mav. They were an easy install, they helped level loads, kept rear end sway to a minimum - granted they were installed over the rear axle, which the Mav doesn't have. The rubber was pretty solid/durable and no cracking...
Heck yes. (Disclaimer - this was bought for my personal use, I am not affiliated with the vendor or manufacturer 😊 )

Bought it on eBay after searching for bed extenders. That was the most versatile that I liked at the price point.
And I did at first load it angled in but I didn't like the amount of overhang to one side and trying to strap it down that way needed a much longer strap with it still being...
Inspired by the OP and the bed extender suggestion. It helped that I had box springs to load too. The Mav saved the day for my elderly neighbors to get rid of their King set.
I have the $ for gas too and have similar gas prices as per your receipt, but I am shy about running it down to fumes like you did.. Did that once on a trip for work using my infinity G35.. literally waiting to turn in to the gas station at then end of my 480 mile trip, fuel light on and needle...
