I think I know the answers ........at least for me....... I had not bought a brand new vehicle in 28 years let alone a Ford until I bought the Mav in May of 22. After I found the Mav, found r/FordMaverickTruck or whatever it is on Reddit and then found MTC, I asked questions, became confident (or crazy) and ordered a Ford product.

What made you switch?

My first car was a 1980 toyota pickup with 98 hp, RWD & stick shift. I loved that thing and always said if someone made a compact pickup with a crew cab, automatic trans and AWD I'd buy it in a heart beat.

I usually wouldn't buy the first year of a new model but the drive train components are all off the shelf so I figured there wouldn't be too many major bugs. So far so good.

The rest of the new market for pickups is too big and too expensive. My other choice was a new Frontier and I was getting close to pulling the trigger on that when the mav came out.

First time Ford owner here as well. Hell, first USDM vehicle I was planning to own (always had JDM and KDM vehicles - roughly about 10)

The only reason I ordered a Maverick is because it's a compact pickup truck that can get 40mpg. I only need the bed for the occasional run to Lowe's and have a long commute to work. So it ticks all my boxes! If the Santa Cruz was available in a Hybrid, I might've gone that way (since my wife had a Santa Fe)

My wife loves the look of the Bronco so we ordered it (I like to match vehicle brands for both of our vehicles haha). Hers took 3 months to order and get, my Maverick 361 days and counting

Needed the utility of a truck.
Needed to replace my 40mpg daily driver.
I was pricing used full size 1/2 tons trucks when I learned of the Mav.
Chose the new Mav vs. used (any brand) half-ton pickup.

I've never owned a truck before, didn't want anything big, prioritized fuel economy and still wanted to do some of the things a truck can do that my SUV can't (i.e. a dump run, taking home furniture/larger appliance, towing a trailer if/when the need arises). My hybrid Maverick checks all those boxes for me by a mile...so here I am!

I'm not a (insert brand) anything. Including vehicles. I buy what suits my needs. I've wanted a truck for a while for light hauling, etc. But no one made a truck that met my requirements; decent gas mileage and it would fit in my garage. When the new Ford ranger came out a few years back I planned to buy one, but was so disappointed because it was so effing big, compared to the ranger of old. So I gave up looking. When I heard about the Maverick and found out its dimensions, I was excited about it and made plans to purchase one. When it finally came out and it was revealed that there was a hybrid model standard equipment. I got even more interested in it and eventually ordered one. It should be coming in soon.

I have had all sorts of vehicles of different brands and countries of origin. But never bought a vehicle just because it was a certain brand. To me, that is ridiculous.

Not only had we never owned a Ford, but we weren't even looking for another vehicle. It was probably going to be another 4yrs or so before we were really in the market. I read an article about the Maverick somewhere online, started researching a little more, and then asked my wife if she wanted one. A hybrid pickup, with room for all 4 of us and our bikes and camping gear, for >$25k OTD; it sounded like a unicorn vehicle that if we didn't order early, we may end up never having a chance to get (at a reasonable price). We ordered a few days after the order banks opened in June '21.

It's now our family adventure vehicle, that my wife occasionally drives to work.

Long time Dodge fan for trucks and Toyota for cars. I needed a daily driver that gets great mileage. I didn’t need another truck because I already have a Ram that I will keep forever, but I love the concept of being able to do some light truck stuff and still get economy car mpg. Nobody else plays in this segment, so Ford it is.

I have never owned a Ford or a brand new vehicle. I've owned many different cars some old and some almost new. My current car is a 2016 Mini Cooper S 6 speed manual, it gets fairly good gas mileage, I average 28.9 and is really fun to drive. When I heard about the Maverick I knew I needed one, better gas mileage than the Mini and the ability to tow my boat again and haul things.

I come from a “Ford family” but have owned Dodge, Jeep, VW, and BMW.

I have always been conscious of fuel economy.

Put simply - this truck is at the perfect intersection of capacity and efficiency for me.

Cheapest hybrid… Cheapest Truck… took a risk untested and no preview of Truck.
Worked better than expected with MPG
, comfort and ride feedback. Not great with 12v issue and Audio system weakness.
Worked around 12v with wired second battery/on a switch and got used to poor radio quality sound in truck.

I needed a truck, but it had to be small enough to fit in my garage, had to be affordable, and had to get decent gas mileage. With those requirements the choice was pretty simple.

I would not have bought a Maverick if it was from a brand that I openly distrust. Nissan, Mitsubishi (and I owned a Mitsubishi that I loved), Jaguar, anything Stellantis. Straight up no. I heard about the Hyundai Santa Cruz way before I heard about the Maverick and I might have bought one but you can't even fit MTBs in it. This is not my video, but hilariously, it is the same bike I have in my profile pic, a Santa Cruz Bronson. and you can see, it doesn't fit in a Hyundai.

Ford Maverick If You Weren't a Ford Guy/Gal Why Did You Get a Maverick? scno

So, if no Maverick, last year I would have probably bought a Colorado or Ranger instead.

I have actually only owned two Fords before, and one of them I didn't even buy, my ex-wife did. But they were fine. And I think Ford knows trucks, they damn well better, since they stopped making cars except the Mustang.
