Sorry if this has been asked before, but I have searched for an answer and can't find one.
I was sitting in PARK the other day with the ICE running - I had just started the truck and it was warming up coolant and/or charging the HV battery. I gave the pedal a little push to hear what the engine sounded like revving and nothing happened. It seems like the only way to "give it gas" is when you are in gear and want to accelerate . I don't necessarily have a need to increase RPM when I am standing still, but there might be times when I want to hear a little vroom-vroom. Is there a way to do this that I have not figured out yet?

It’s the Harley rider saying, “Hey baby, look at me look at me, Imma bad azz”

The rice rider knows his place at the table,
Zoom zoom,

The Hybrid driver just don’t have any macho anymore.

And the EV driver is a geek plain and simple.
🤔Hmmm....
I had never heard of V-Stars or Shadows referred to as "ricers".

I was thinking there must be a "test mode" or something so you could diagnose mis-fires etc. I guess I am still living in the 70's
As my Maverick hybrid is still in the body shop, you can be my test subject. I'll bet you a beer it works.
Turn on your vehicle so that is ready to drive. Leave it in park. Stomp the accelerator to the floor and keep it there. If I'm correct, the truck engine revs to a predetermined rpm to maximize traction battery charging. It also warms up the engine and wastes gas. This works on my brother's 2014 Fusion Hybrid. I am guessing that Ford carried this over to the Maverick hybrid.

Otherwise you can open a YouTube video of a car revving it's engine, lol. 😆

To get the ICE to turn on after Starting - don't have to smash or stomp tho Go pedal - just push it in far enough - ICE will start.

OP - since you already had the ICE running as your post said - that ET mode is one method, Sport mode is another.

Just after a morning start, I noticed a higher than usual RPM. I shut off the defroster, heated seat(driver was the only one on), and steering wheel heat... a few moments later it reduced RPM to what seems normal. Made me want a tachometer or a digital indicator for RPM, just out of curiosity.

OBD reader and Torque Pro light app. cheapest way to get a Tach.
If money is not a concern, Scangauge is also an option.

I'm glad my choice of "vroom-vroom" has given the forum some good laughs
It's just an odd experience to tap the throttle in neutral/park and have it feel like the linkage is broken. I guess it is like the gear selector - it's all fly-by-wire and the computer decides what is best. God forbid they add AI to the process!

ScanGuage III will give you all of that, and more.

It took me over a year to learn how to start the ICE after an oil change to do a leak check. I'm pretty sure Ford has a way to place the system in a diagnostic mode where the accelerator pedal does indeed control the throttle plate, but it must be a very closely guarded secret indeed.

What a thought: You find yourself sitting at a stoplight waiting for the green. Suddenly your 4-ways blink a couple times and then those on the Prius next to you answer! Then yours blink again and the Prius answers again. The light turns green and you are shoved back into your seat as the two AIs get it on toward the next light! You hold on and hope there's no AI Police around...

And that darn salesman SWORE that it had been owned by a little old man who only drove it to the landfill on Saturdays!

Here you go!!!
Thank you very much, excellent info!
Very helpful indeed, now we know why Mav feels so much more responsive in Sport mode, ICE is always on the ready. I have found Normal to be competent enough to move the Mav very nicely. Eco Mode is OK as well, If you use EV coach, in this mode, you may learn driving strategies for increased MPG's

I believe the ICE turns off and hands off the electric motor, so you're not going to get a vroom. Try Sports Mode. You'll get a virtual gear shift and vroom. It's weirdly satisfying.
