  1. Hybrid MPG gauge too high by 5.6%

The topic of conversation at that point was the accuracy of the pump at your local station, so the idea was to weigh your lawnmower gas can to get its tare weight, then buy what your local station's pump claims is 1.000 gallons. Weigh the can again and subtract its tare. This was all done to...
  2. Hybrid MPG gauge too high by 5.6%

Yes, you can manually tune your indicated MPG. Ford did this one right, but doesn't make it easy. Enter Engineering Test Mode: 1. Depress & hold brake pedal. 2. Depress and hold the OK button on steering wheel. 3. Wait >5 sec, then insert key and switch ignition to "RUN" (OFF-ACCY-RUN-START)...
  3. Hybrid MPG gauge too high by 5.6%

If you look again, you will see that I said 1.000 and not 1,000. (3 digits past decimal to imply precision on the pump display) The rest really is easy peezy if you have a scale and remember to measure the tare weight of the can before filling up. A thermometer and graduated cylinder will...
  4. Hybrid MPG gauge too high by 5.6%

Speaking theoretically is all well and good, but it would be interesting for you to actually go out and buy 1.000 gal from your local station, weigh it, and measure its temperature to see how your own real-world data point fits. Don't see how atmospheric pressure would have a measurable effect...
  5. Maverick Steering Issues - Bad Sound

If you could get someone to turn the wheel while you walk around outside and listen, you might be able to discern whether the sound is from inside (power assist) or outside (ball joint, etc). That creaking sounds like the latter, but you never know. VERY frustrating...
  6. Installed A Trickle Charger - '24 Lariat Hybrid (Not intended as a "bash Ford Policies discussion starter.)

I had great ambitions for this simple project but as often happens, life got complicated and I no longer had the time to live up to my ambitions. I "was" going to put a 120V covered plug back by the rear bumper, LOL. So... I had to settle for a 1-hour wonder just to check this off my hot list...
  7. Ecoboost AWD vs AWD Hybrid MPG is closer than you think

I'm mostly running errands around town in my FWD hybrid, many of which start with a cold engine and therefore get poor MPG. My average per-tank MPG seems to hover around mid-40s, but it's pretty easy to get over 50 in heavy freeway traffic where the herd is lumbering along slowly. I think the...
  8. What’s the ONE piece of advice you’d give to a new Maverick owner?

For hybrid owners... Be aware that you can force an engine start by depressing the accelerator while still in Park. This is one way to let a cold engine flow some oil without load. However, there's a lot of spinning mass in the motor/generator that's connected to the engine by a powertrain...
  9. Keys can be locked in the truck.

I have a '23 XLT with the hard-wired keypad. Why Ford discontinued this is beyond me.
  10. Nilight plugged in to hitch receiver 2025 Maverick

I plan. Life happens. God laughs. (not yet)
  11. Synthetic Oil (Hybrid Maverick)

If you get a new car every 10 years then go ahead and stick with the 7,500-mile interval. However, if you plan to keep your vehicle for 20 years or more, fresh/clean lubricants are a simple thing that really does pay off over time. OEM service intervals are really intended to get you through...
  12. 12 V H4 AGM battery at Costco

That's encouraging news. The last time I checked, the Costco near me did not carry an H4. I believe the OEM battery has a vent tube out thru the floor. I wonder how many AGM replacements have this feature, and whether it's worth the trouble.
  13. How to lift truck using floor jack (not using pinch welds)

I also miss a clean way to lift the front end for an oil change. So far, the best approach for me is to just lift the whole truck onto jackstands. This is ideal for tire rotation, and quick enough. I have an 18" long 4x4 with a center dado (groove) I cut down one side so it will stay on the...
  14. The backup camera is useless when the tailgate is down. Is there a solution?

You're right. I was thinking of UAW labor rates (y el Maverick es hecho en Mexico).
  15. Washing the hybrid engine?

Never wash your engine. It doesn't mind being a bit dirty. You can blow off the dust with compressed air, but there are a lot of electronic sensors and cabling in there and water exposure just creates unnecessary risk from corrosion.
  16. I'm a new member from just moments ago. My concerns are related to the Maverick 12 volt battery issues.

I have a '23 hybrid with the original flooded H4 battery. It's had several software updates done in my driveway by a mobile tech, including SSM 53801 which was Ford's hail Mary attempt to address a potential issue with battery drain by the A/C control module. My experience has been a bit...
  17. The backup camera is useless when the tailgate is down. Is there a solution?

I share your frustration. For another $2, Ford could have easily made the camera mount (blue oval badge) pivot out manually to address this, but they didn't. One other issue with having the tailgate open is that you cannot access the drive screw that lowers the spare tire. Nobody in...
  18. ECO Mode vs Normal Mode

I kinda like ECO mode in low-speed driving because it gets the Mav into electric drive more easily. IF your driving habits are tuned to take advantage of this, I think it can help you get slightly better MPG. The downside (I suspect) is that it starts and stops the ICE more frequently which...
  19. Confirmed - Battery Saver mode doesn't look at the battery health!!! Time to complain

This is good info to know. I keep mine floating on a Noco 2D from time to time. Now I won't question my setup when I see that mode get triggered. I really miss the good old days when parasitic drain was just a few mA and the alternator's solid-state regulator took care of the battery. You...
  20. Trail Rail L-Track System by Maxzina

I put L-Track in my '23 hybrid and really like it, although much of the time I find myself wanting to tie to the floor instead. I had to use flat-head machine screws in the factory threaded inserts to make the track work as intended. I located the mounting holes to minimize interference with...
