Has anyone ever regretted getting a lariat?

I originally bought a ’24 Maverick XLT 2.0 EcoBoost, FWD, no Lux for about $28K, thinking I’d be fine without all the extra features. Turns out, I really missed the creature comforts I’d gotten used to—push-button start, better tech, and a more refined feel.

I went back to my dealer to check out an XLT Hybrid with Lux & BAP, even considered ordering a ‘25 Lobo, but ended up falling for a ‘24 Tremor Lariat with a sunroof that they had at a sister store. My dealer gave me a great trade-in value, so I made the switch.

Now that I’ve had the Lariat Tremor for a while—no regrets. It’s got everything I wanted, it’s fun to drive, and just last month, I paid it off—which makes driving it even better. The only regret? Losing a little money on the trade, but in the end, I’m way happier with the truck I have now.

Kinda true, if your thing is crawling or mudding, but if you want to go fast on smoother dirt surfaces the Tremor can work well. Subaru has sold a lot of vehicles based on safety and awd that have similar ground clearance and approach/departure angles to the Tremor.

I'm also curious to see what people do with the Lobo since low ground clearance and unibody construction are not limiting factors for street performance.
That locking rear diff isn't helping you go fast....

I loved my Tremor but it made the Maverick a compromised platform to me. Full size fuel economy in truck that really can't do much off road and couldn't tow or haul as much as my AWD Hybrid.

I was happy to trade that in for the efficiency of the hybrid, utility of 4K tow, and luxuries afforded by the Lariat.

I bought an XL in spring of 2022 when I was unsure if my order would ever get made.

My Lariat arrived that October, I traded it in on that one.

Zero regrets. $0 down on the XL except a $500 clunker trade in, $0 down outside of my trade on the Lariat, under 2% on APR and owe like 16k.

Overall pretty happy with my timing and purchase even with the long wait.

My reasoning - if I want to keep the truck past when it is paid off, I wanted Push button start, ACC and other features that I could not easily add on down the road that would make me want to buy something newer.

I think for what you get it’s worth it, to me it makes the truck seem not quite as “cheap” if that makes sense. Plus, I’ve never heard anybody say I regret getting all the options lol it’s usually the other way around. I drove one of the XLs before I ordered mine and that was enough reason to get the Lariat.
in general yes, unless some of those options cause problems (not saying that's the case here). made up example: I'm guessing people with leaky moon roofs regret getting the moon roof.

that said you have to know what you can live with/without. I wanted the cheapest possible version of this truck (XL) because that just felt right to me. I'm not too picky though.

I've seen plenty of posts where people are stressing about affording a Maverick - high APR, etc, etc.
The majority of those seem to be Lariat related, or XLT lux.

I believe some of them regretted ordering and/or purchasing the Lariat.

Just an observation.

There's a lot of talk on here and in general, online, about how the lariat isn't "worth it"...
I have a 2022 First Edition Lariat and thus far, its been everything I expected. Even though I paid far less than today's model, I would still buy it again regardless of cost.

Had a 22 2.0 AWD. Loved it and the price. Currently have a 24 XLT. I would never pay today’s price for a Lariat. XLT is even becoming pricey.

You're missing the point of this thread, which is about regretting actually BUYING a Lariat. Those complaining about affordability aren't looking at Lariats, since they simply may not have the means to afford one. Maybe they've made some poor choices in life, but I'll bet a number of Lariats owners are like myself, cash buyers, who could care less about APR.
The Lariat "haters" are those that don't own one. Read the thread, the overwhelming majority of us are happy with our purchase.

it's torque vectoring, and it actually does help cornering at speed, the opposite of a simple locker.

but anyway...

can you confirm the Tremor takes advantage of the capability or are you just going off of a focus RS?

high speed corner off road on slippery surfaces?

but anyway…..

This thread was always going to divide and bring out those panning Lariat buyers.
