Yeah, it balances the license plate being off center. That’s what I’d go with.
I know, the license plate placement almost cause me not to buy one. I've been working on a bracket that would center the plate when you're not using the hitch.

Gotta watch how tall divider is if you put on Tonneua cover, I could not get my foldable golf cart over it without undoing tonneau cover, went from a 2x6 to 2x4 painted divider
and
DIY rails on side with eyebolt (was fun easy project finishing up can of red spray paint from divider)

You know, putting these on the end is a good idea. you can cut it slightly short and still adjust it for a snug fit. if the wood expands/contracts from weather you can still adjust.

The license plate is the #1 easiest way to ID a truck as a Maverick at a distance.

Center the plate and you blend in with every other small truck out there.

I have one figured out that will rotate from the original spot to the spot over the hitch and back when using the hitch. It will be held in place by a magnet. I'll post it when I get it drawn out on paper

You have a 2" receiver on the back of your trailer and you put the plate there.

(it's not uncommon for trailers to have a 2" receiver. Most use it to hold bikes or extra luggage. Some pull a travel trailer and the travel trailer pulls a boat or jet-ski.)

You can pull two trailers in half the states and half the states you can't.

States like California, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington generally allow double towing due to their vast open spaces and long distances, making it practical for transporting goods and recreational equipment.

Where double towing is permitted, there are specific regulations regarding the length of the vehicle combination, with a range of 65 to 75 feet allowed depending on the type of trailers and vehicle.

While some states like Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming also permit double towing, double towing is generally prohibited on the entire East Coast, with Maryland being an exception.

At least Utah and Nevada allow triple towing for commercial drivers.

I probably saw this the same place you did. I'm probably just going to go with a 2x8 board that I already have. It just needs to be cut to length. But this looks more fuel efficient.

No Northern Tool trailer has a receiver or Harbor Freight trailer or my bike rack.
The most consumer rented trailer in the country U-Haul none of their trailers have a receiver in the back.

I'm not saying that trailers aren't out there that have a two inch receiver.
Custom made of course commercial probably.
In my opinion the curt receiver hitch license plate holder is useless.
Having to move your license plate around because you're going to tow something. Especially when the truck has a perfectly good license plate mounting position on it.
