That would drive me insane. Engineering background makes my brain hurt sometimes
heh. i got over that years ago.

Looks great, but can't put any kind of divider in my Mav as I have the Ford storage box on the left side.
i can't get one of those, would block the power outlets or the other storage bin.

the TMat system looks interesting, i don't need that advanced of a system.

Though the storage box is great, does hamper some things. Like you said, the light and plug. Had I thought about it, would have purchased the box for the other side.

hey, love the divider design. I did something similar. My current delima is that I couldn't fit it in the slots because the width is wider than the plastic edge of the bedwalls. Any pointers of how to waggle it in, or I need to cut the length?

I'm afraid to tell you, but you're going to have to cut the length. I've revised my instructions to include test fitting the long boards.

Not my original idea, saw a photo of it elsewhere and decided to build my own. Sharing my build instructions after someone else asked me for them. Lots of room for tweaking. Gotta love the FlexBed!

Materials:
  • Two 2x4" 6' or longer pieces of wood
  • 6-20+ 6" deck screws

Tools:
  • Screwdriver
  • Saw (hand, power)
  • Drill (Pilot holes makes things easier)

Assembly:
  1. Cut two 54 1/8" pieces from the lengths, optional cut corners from one side of a length. I have a lined bed, for bare metal bed you might want to go slightly longer. Test that the long boards fit in and out easily before proceeding, you may need to trim a little off. Better to start longer and shorten as needed.
  2. Cut one, or more, 4" pieces from the remaining wood. I used 5 total.
  3. Place all the pieces flat, small pieces between the lengths. Put one piece at each end, then space rest along length as you desire.
  4. Drill pilot holes into edges of lengths where you will be putting spacer blocks.
  5. Screw from edges into the spacer pieces. You can get away with one screw but I used two from each side.

Optional:
  • Cut corners off edges to allow divider to rest against bed, or leave corners to have divider float 1/2" above bed.
  • Stain, paint, weather treat wood, or use treated wood.
  • Affix eye bolts or hooks along length of bar to affix bags, straps or other items to.
  • Add cut material, rubber, etc. to ends so they don't scrape edges of bed.

Emergency uses:
  • Fuel for fire.
  • Weapon.
  • Stakes for defense against vampires.

Looks great. I like that a lot, might steal the cutting corners off idea.

Here is a link for some hooks that match pretty close to what comes in the bed from factory. Got the idea from someone else on this forum a couple of years ago. https://a.co/d/ehdnsBF

Here is a photo of my own divider and MUCH cheaper tool box (9 gallon tote from Home Depot). Husky work pad makes ground work much more comfortable, good use of $15 IMO.

Horizontal board in back of bed makes for level loading of long items with tailgate in middle position.

Mine a just spray painted with matte black, but like someone else's reply about spray liner coating. Might look into that.

Good job on your divider, I built this to keep my groceries in place,it flips to the rear to be out of the way when not needed

Hmm, yeah, might be a little off. Offsets the weight distribution of the rear license plate being on the passenger side.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Flipping it 360 would reverse the offset and change it up when you got bored with the original look.

yes but then my maverick would lean to the passenger side with the extra weight. 🙁

Hahaha. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm one of those "measure once, cut 3-5 times". I live in Idaho and we support LOGGERS!
