How do you determine what mode it is actually in. I won’t be able to test as I’m out of town for a week
I could tell by the amount of off-throttle regen and how quickly it wanted to accelerate when making cruise control changes. I mainly use Eco just for the latter as driving in L mode overrides the former.

This is off topic, but it seems like darnan knows how this truck feels despite what the display says LOL.

I have realized that when I am on an incline going up (I only drive in eco mode) when I take my foot off the break (no accelerator) there is about a second delay before the truck idles forward. When it does idle, it gives a pretty sudden jerk forward. It kind of feels like how the brake hold works in my wife's Chrysler minivan, but my brake hold is certainly off.

I didn't drive the truck much before I made the changes to install the adaptive cruise control. I'm thinking of putting it all back to AS BUILT settings to see if it has the same behavior.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Slippery= gentlest drive mode= highest MPG for most drivers.

Think of Slippery as opposite of Sport.

1. Slippery
2. Eco
3. Normal
4. Tow/Haul
4. Sport

Tow and Sport are a tie in my book.
This go for Ecoboost too? I drove mine almost all in Eco mode for 3k. Decided to try normal no difference in MPG at least for me.

I don't have an EcoBoost.
I have a battery boost.

Lol My Honda CRZ actually had a battery boost. They called it the S button. You would push it to get boost from the battery for about 5 seconds to accelerate. Kind of a fake nitrous. Did not work so great.

I did some testing on fuse 6 today. It had previously been reported that this is ignition signaled, but I certainly get power in accessory mode in my XLT hybrid.

However, the invertor only works when the ignition is on. Fuse 6 is labeled as "DC/AC inverter module" but being a 10A fuse, it is not capable of powering a 400W invertor.

Fuse 36 in the engine block is 60A, also labeled as DC/AC invertor module, so I am guessing this is doing the heavy lifting, and is probably tied to ignition.

My quest is to find an ignition signal without opening the steering column. I think pin 4 on the C2280D connector to the BCM is my best bet at this point.

I just tested on my Lariat. Fuse 6 does get power with Accessory. With Accessory, I was able to change the Drive Mode. The instrument cluster was powered on with Accessory.

Ahhh... same here. I didn't realize that drive mode could be changed without actually having the ignition on.

So basically, if the circuit is powered by fuse 6, it just needs some time before sending the pulses, and doesn't need an ignition trigger at all.

So one of these puppies in fuse 6 spot would do the trick!

edit: Nm, those are mini, not micro 2. Fuse 6 access really sucks! Maybe easier just to tap the wire from the BCM.

You guys are awesome!!

I wonder what Ford's thinking about the Normal Mode start is? Maybe there's an actual reason, but I'll guess it was somehow easiest or cheapest to program it that way and corporate Ford has better things to think about currently to change it.

Cuban answered that somewhere earlier in the thread. Apparently it is several different modules that have to act together, so they all need to default to the same mode.

Well that sucks, thought I was into something.
Actually, in retrospect I didn't remove the drive modes in the IPC (just the ABS) and that can have an effect on drive mode switching as well. So more experimentation might be necessary.
