I also did that so the switch can be used to configure both of those whenever you want, to whatever you want.

The problem is a normal fuse tap doesn’t fit in 6.

Once I post my write up, I’ll put a link in this thread.
From my testing, there is essentially no difference between interacting at the button and at the harness. Continuity between the two, although I did not check the resistance, a few feet of wire should not add anything significant. If you found the female and male ends to make a plug and play solution for the button connector, that's actually really cool.

Fuse 6 is certainly the way to go for this... It's a shame that it's so inaccessible.

I too think at the harness or at the switches would be the same.

Yes, I found the connectors; took a bit of investigation. I will be including that info as well. If you want a sneak peak at that, see my post: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/cheap-auto-dimming-homelink-mirror.8346/post-360643

Yeah, wasn’t too happy about 6 being so hard. I already had my fuse tap when I figured out that 3 had 12v with just remote power. Searching around I found something like the following, but couldn’t find it at a reasonable price.

I really only care about Auto Start/Stop for myself, but the engineer in me wanted to figure out something for the community. Figured it wouldn’t be much to include the Drive Modes, until I hit the fuse 3 thing. Auto Start/Stop works fine if done when just remote started. However, I was too intrigued to figure it all out.

So the connector is the same with the one used for the ipma module? Looks like it could be useful in several scenarios.

My fuse 3 is already tapped for my auto dimming mirror and for the adaptive cruise control radar.

I thought about a pigtail for a fuse six just like what you linked to. I will probably just solder up my own. Luckily, none of the things powered by a few six are imperative to drive the automobile, it mainly just powers the DC inverter.

And the more time I have spent thinking about my circuit, I have referred back to the formod module out of poland. It really looks like a nice piece of hardware that already has the engineering completed. Might not be a bad purchase for 25 bucks...

All good stuff.
But the title of this thread needs a reboot.

It should be "Default to Slippery Mode" which we all now know is better than Eco.
😉

J/K because I know this system is flexible so we can do 3 pulses instead of 4. (But ya'll should be doing 3)

lol

I guess I am ignorant of the discussions about slippery mode. Please do tell.

Slippery= gentlest drive mode= highest MPG for most drivers.

Think of Slippery as opposite of Sport.

1. Slippery
2. Eco
3. Normal
4. Tow/Haul
4. Sport

Tow and Sport are a tie in my book.

Sorry if that was confusing. Lower in that thread is the connector for the Drive Mode and Auto S/S buttons. It is different from the IPMA, but same brand.

Yes. I’m not likely to tow much in the near future so don’t need tow haul. If i need to haul anything I can enable it prior to use.

I wanted to start in eco mode so removed normal.

Initially I just had eco and sport mode but added mud and ruts and sand and snow just to see if they do anything.

Haven’t tried them out but they are there when the opportunity presents itself.

I have been starting in eco mode every time for about two weeks.

It’s the same screen you would use to enable any of the drive modes.

Interesting. I had wondered if such a thing was theoretically possible or if at least Normal would be hard-coded, but never got to trying it out myself.

Did you have to do the ABS disable as when adding more drive modes or were you able to disable just the drive modes themselves without issue?

Edit: Gave it a try and it doesn't seem to think it's in Eco as the IPC stays in its Normal color scheme and pressing the drive mode button reported it was Normal even though only Eco and Sport icons were present. It also wouldn't even switch to other modes; the rotation animation would start to play and then jump back to Normal. I didn't drive it yet to evaluate what mode it was performing as.

Edit 2: Nope, driving it it's definitely starting in and even staying in Normal despite the drive mode display saying Eco.

I’m not sure if you can reorder them by installing them in a particular order or not. I haven’t had time to try. They may just be in a default order and by removing the normal and tow haul it ends up being first.

Maybe someone can look into that further.

I can’t take credit for anything I’ve enabled or got to work a certain way. I just got the ideas from messing around with Forscan after reading posts like yours.

The MTC is full of tons of useful ideas.

Could it shut off Auto stop/start automatically as well?
Don't know about the Maverick (since I'm still waiting), but on my Ecosport, there is a single wire going to the battery. Unplug it and it disables the auto stop/start. Makes the system think the battery is low so won't enable the auto start/stop.

I follow the thread about adding the different modes via forscan, but the last I remember reading is anybody that tried to remove modes had them immediately pop back up.

To my knowledge, you are the first one I have heard of that has successfully accomplished this.

There are some eager people that would love to see some video of this working here:

Well that sucks, thought I was into something.

How do you determine what mode it is actually in. I won’t be able to test as I’m out of town for a week
