Some of them have both vent holes plugged and you have to open it on the correct side with something sharp.

Breaking off a plug to push into the correct side is much easier.

None of the battery makers know which side your vent tube is on - you will always have to do something.

Or leave it venting into cabin. I'm sure no issues there.

(then again, the current BMS won't have a chance to overcharge it, so no current issue)
I was under the impression that those with both vents "plugged" had pressure relief valves 1.5-3 PSI to help keep gasses within battery and possibly recombining back into water. The plastic plug would keep the gas from escaping from the regulated hole and forcing it out the side with the vent tube. At least on the battery specs of the two I researched.

Ya those 4 PIDs are Ah's it appears from the calcs, so very slow changing. One look and not really useful again for awhile.

You should find the 12V battery Amps incoming if not a watched PID - see if you notice the same high 7-9 amps for maybe a couple minutes, 4-6 for several more, and then staying around 0-2 thereafter for a drive.
No wonder a 4.5 hr drive needed to see notable difference!
12 v Charging curve pretty much sucks, same with HVB topping out around 70-72% max…..would really like that to be around 85%, no?! Bill P

I saw a couple videos of batteries with those cap areas removed and saw what appeared to be that relief valve. I imagined the vent hole plug on the cap was for taking care of that not-normal event gases if it did occur.
These sealed ones require that valve.

So 1st it would have to burp to matter.
2nd the cap would need that vent hole open and attached to hose to get the gases under the truck.

Good to know. If I do buy a AGM don't get AC delco. I don't want to have to break things off to use vent whole, I assume other batteries this is not necessary ?
I am not sure why you would avoid a well known battery company because the tiny easy to loose vent plug is molded into a part that stays on the battery until your ready to install it?

I left the cover over my old battery after I reconditioned it… I will keep the old battery for now as I might put it on if Ford ever rolls out the fix.

I'm pretty sure the curve matches this very closely.

Only the Ford programmers misread the time scale and used Minutes instead of Hours.

Holy cow there is a mountain of information in here. I'm using an app on my phone called Car Scanner and an iCar Pro Bluetooth OBDII reader, what should I be looking for to pull up the 12v battery info? I'm assuming "[BCM] Vehicle Battery Voltage" or "[BCM] Vehicle Battery B Voltage", but both were reading 0v or 1v so I wasn't sure if those were the right things to look at. I'd been getting occasional deep sleep messages but I thought I was fending them off with scheduled remote starts to let the truck run for 15 minutes before I drove to work, but then it went into deep sleep last week on me not even 6 hours after I drove to the airport and flew out of town for a week and was completely dead when I got back into town yesterday, had to get a jump just to wake the truck back up. Aside from poking at the settings with ForScan and getting an AGM, anything else I need to be looking at?

Try using the “OBD Adapter Voltage” to report your 12v battery voltage. Also consider using the “12v Battery SOC” PIDs to keep track of the state of charge %. An AGM will not completely eliminate your deep sleep events but it will greatly reduce them and you can be much more confident in avoiding a no start issue.

Your app is probably not working correctly with the Mav and the non-normal PID's or values that are possible.

Oh - all this info merely allows us to watch what's going to happen.

Simple routine several use is when they see the power saving functions kick on like lights turning off sooner - the maintainer is put on the battery.
I think another waits until Fordpass announces deep sleep has been enabled to do the same.

Just as an update, after multiple battery replacements in my less than 1 year with my hybrid Mav, the dealership (after I showed them the oasis note from October regarding it) found the battery maintenance system was faulty in my truck. They checked with Ford Canada and now the expected time for the fix is end of june-early July. It'll be a warranty thing from what they said.

Since I needed to poke at the truck with Forscan yesterday to see why I had a check engine light after the screen recall was done, I took a look in the BCM and noticed that the battery was configured as an AGM with 80% target charge. Looking under the seat, I see that the battery is the OEM LX6T-10655-BA. Is this normal for the settings?

I don't think that anybody has been able to show that the battery type setting is actually used for anything. If you set it to nuclear pile battery it will still not adequately recharge.

You did supply it at some point - it was a good read and seemed to fit what was seen.

Good advice on the battery test. I already figured the quickie they might do in the service pull-thru lane (like the quickie alignment test), would not be enough.
Didn't realize the warranty test was that much longer. I guess they want to fully charge and see if it holds overnight, then load test with their big tester.
yeah, I took mine to the dealer and he told me my battery was fine. They didn’t do an overnight test.

I had a 34 month old battery that showed one the hand held tester "battery good but low needs charging 10.1v". I explained that I kept noco on it almost every night and requested the overnight test. The service rep went and talked to service manager, came back and opened up new form, asked about five questions which I answered apparently correctly and she said did I want an appointment or could I leave it. I left it and called wife to come get me because the valet drivers were not available. They called me the next day and said truck was ready and had a new battery the old one had a bad cell. The new one was the same part number but was a MAX SERIES with 10 more amps and CCA 470 instead of the original 390 CCA battery. "MR FIVE STAR" gave his evaluation as soon as he got the text!

well, I put a charge on my battery today and it was up to 12.6 V before I took it off. Let’s see how this goes. Reset the BCM.
