New to this group. I just bought a new Maverick in July and it’s been back in the shop twice because it goes into a “deep sleep mode” and kills the battery. It’s been jumped off a dozen times already and has gotten bad enough that it has to be jumped anytime it sits more than 3 or 4 hours. I’m wondering if anyone else has this same issue since the dealership says they have no idea what the problem is.

Yes it has happened to others.
If you bought your Maverick new, I assume that it is still under warranty.
I realize that it's inconvenient and shouldn't really happen but.
I would give Ford's roadside assistance a call each and every time that it has to be jumped.
Enough calls and they might take notice.

There is a software fix coming the 1st quarter of 2025 for this battery issue. This may or may not fix the issue. Many at MTC would also recommend getting a third party AGM battery. You can do a search in this forum if you are interested in recommendations.

Does FordPass implementation cause further drain. New constant Maverick in Battery save mode drive prompt also makes vehicle seem Ricky Dink.
Catch 22…….for My 2023 Lariat sold with no ACC, so we rarely take it on long trips.

I experienced the same and after the 2nd high end battery and lots of research I discovered that the the SOC in ForScan is set to 80%. The dealer new nothing about this and said the battery had a dead cell. Long story short, I bought a ForScan interface, a 1yr license($10) from Forscan and changed SOC to 95%......no more issues .Plus, I was able to enable/disabled a host of nice features

I honestly don’t know. The dealership, of course, says I’m hallucinating because it works perfectly fine for them. I bought a new vehicle so that I had (I thought) a reliable car for work because I’m on call 6 days a week. Obviously I misjudged Ford and their products and I’m going to call their corporate headquarters after I speak with an attorney. I can’t even go to the grocery store because I don’t know if it will start afterwards.

I get the sleep mode message daily. Fortunately I haven't had a dead battery yet. I bought one of those portable jump started and keep it under the rear seat just in case. I've had the issue for over a yr now. I hope Ford is working on a fix.

Same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer three times. They put a new battery in and did some other things that didn't help, but finally it seems to be working. I don't trust it so my son has taken it and it seems to be working for him. How can Ford get away with this situation, and why do they keep selling these things if they defective.

When you have some time; when it does it again, call roadside assistance, but don't have it jumped. Tell them to tow it to the dealership. If it won't start, they should replace the battery under warranty.

Sounds like the battery was low when you bought it, and has been low enough times to sulfate/ruin the battery. The software will not allow the 12v battery to charge over 80%. Flooded lead-acid batteries die a premature death if not kept at/near fully charged.
Fortunately, there is a fix coming from Ford for this issue, sometime 1Q, 2025. Most likely a software update.

Just FYI - Deep sleep mode did NOT kill the battery.

Think about sleep mode on any electronics you have - it happens to save the battery from use that may not be required.

The system saw a low battery charge (based on any of the reasons given above), and decided in order to have enough juice for the next start, it better conserve battery.

Now - why I think your issue is NOT related to known poor quality battery with known bad battery charging routine.

To the fact you needed a jump anyway several times after a short time not running - perhaps says you have an unexpected not so parasitic draw, that really needs to be investigated.
Systems can have a malfunction, something as simple as thinking a light is supposed to be left on due to some condition, to a module pulling power for some reason.

Sadly with known battery issues they could keep pushing that investigation off, and a new battery, or new battery charging software update - won't fix that sort of issue. (unless the module with excessive draw happens to be the one getting an update).

So no, frankly the number of threads with your issue is very infrequent.
Dead within 3 to 4 hrs.

Seen 1 serious thread like that - and dealer did find a draw that required a module to be replaced.
Dealer had to keep it overnight to do their draw test - I'd think within 3-4 hrs would make your quicker to verify and easier for dealer to be willing to keep going on it.

What exactly was the test with dealer where it worked perfectly fine for them?
Did they say they tested the battery?
How long did they have it?
Paperwork says?

Just drove my new-to-me 2023 XLT home from the dealer on Saturday. Looked at the app and it gave me the "deep sleep" message, which is why I'm on this forum now. Taking it in tomorrow for testing and a likely new battery - may try to insist on a better than OEM unit. The red flag should have been on the carfax, where they had already replaced the battery, and the previous owner gave up on it after just 20 months. If they can't figure this out I may try to deal for a non-hybrid. Not going to play games if I don't have to. Apart from this glitch I do like the truck!

They said they tested the battery and noted such on the receipt they gave me. I doubt that they looked over any of the wiring and such. I talked with the corporate office yesterday and they told me to take it to a different dealer and have diagnostic done on it, so that’s what I’m going to do.
