I melded ideas from through out this forum and make my own flexible bed divider.

I cut wide dado slots in a cross board to match the dips in the bed. Then I made dividers that fit into the bed slots and into the dado slots. I added foam strips on the end to go into the tailgate to hold everything in place. I hinged the cross board to make it easy to remove, but will lock in place with the dividers.

You could use a 2x10, but y board is 8 1/2 high.
The cross board is 54 1/16 though you could probably go up to 1/4 inch longer.
The divider boards are 15 5/8 long.

Find the center of one of the bed slots. Make the dado cuts 1 3/4 inches wide. 7/8ths on each side of the center point.

Distance between dado cuts is 2 1/16.

Expand out both directions with as many slots as desired.

The foam strip I got is from Lowes. I have been using it for a while and it has maintained its flexibility.

I love this idea. I've been looking for ways to incorporate my wood working with the Maverick. I'm am definitely stealing this.

Great idea, just need to work on a version for those of us who use a bed mat (that covers the bed slots). The use of foam against the tailgate is genius!

Thanks for sharing. This is an awesome idea. I am currently using a 2x6 that is a bit cumbersome to lift in and out. The hinge makes it more practical. For those of us that don’t have dado capabilities, I am wondering if using lattice strips tacked to the 2x6 or such with glue and brad nails at the same distances would yield the same results. Thanks again for sharing.

I don't have dado capabilities. It is amazing what you can accomplish with a circular saw, sandpaper and some patience. A table saw with a big enough table also works. Neither are good for fine woodworking or a ton of cuts but work fine for the bed extender. Just make sure the two end cuts are straight, and the saw is set to the correct depth. You will be fine.
