😳 17 updates even after you had already done updates previously? I can only assume all you had done before must have failed and screwed everything up
I hadn’t done any updates the tech that came to do the camera recall found that many and did them while he was here. I’m thinking that perhaps the update that controls that didn’t do properly. I’m thinking I’ll go to dealer and have them redo at the dealership. Their WiFi should be better than what he could get in my drive. I know my ATT service was only 1 bar and my new Verizon service is only 2 bars.

Yet somehow we did backups on a daily basis before the camera tech. :giggle:
I know, it was so tight and I couldn’t keep my eye on trucks beside me and camera to see the car behind and I relied on the sensors to beep to let me know I was getting close. No beep, I took to dealer a few days later and sometimes when they backed up close to another car it did and sometimes it didn’t. They figured it was sensor and tried to order some, can’t find any. Since then my 24 Maverick doing same thing. I think it’s software glitch.

Let's hope Ford gets this straightened out for you asap. In the meantime, be extra cautious and safe.

I’ve a 23(25k miles)and 24 (17Kmiles)Ford Maverick Lariat hybrid Don’t trust the reverse sensing system to warm you automobiles behind you. Both of my Maverick sometimes doesn’t sense cars passing or parked behind you and sometimes they are too sensitive. At first they worked great but both suddenly became erratic after having the 23 software packages updated. I found out the hard way that the 23 maverick reverse system was messed up when I trusted the system to warn me when I got close to a car parked in tight angled parking space behind me. I heard a thump, I’d backed into the rear bumper of a new $90K Lexus. Cost my insurance $2200 and I’m sure higher insurance rates for me(even though the damage was a 2-3 inch scuff on rear bumper cover of Lexus no damage to my Mav.
One big reason for buying Lariats was the supposed safer reverse sensing system. I took the 23 to my Ford dealer and they checked it and yes the sensors are bad, none available in the whole US. Now the 24 doing same thing. Sensors or system software?
My 25 Lariat works too good; I have a long driveway with bushes on one side house on other I aways back in, I park close to bushes so people can walk by the vehicle, backing in I have to go very very slow, or brakes lock up when system detects the bushes, scared the crap out of me the first time its very abrupt it locks them up. I think you can turn it off but don't want to, works great in parking lots for cross traffic behind you and can't see what's coming, just go very slow backing up. Maybe improved for 25 model, except for my driveway and bushes on side it works great.

This camera back up system is nice but I feel when it’s used as a crutch it weakens our driving skills as a whole.
The active pursuit of comfort makes for less ability and mobility in this case.
I cannot imagine letting myself get to the point I cannot quickly turn around in the drivers seat and look behind me and to the sides.

I am still working on dividing up my attention between the back up camera and actually turning to look behind and to the sides.

I do both, turn head to look back and sides, then watch b/u camera.

Both of my mavericks used to be that way. Was great in parking lots for cross traffic and pedestrians walking out from cars next to me. Now I park further out away from other vehicles. My little bumper bump was in a super tight small parking lot where they had tore out a building between two others and made it into parking spaces. It’s really too tight to have parking on both sides but alternative is park in front where you’ve got maybe 10 feet away from a busy 4 lane road where everyone ignores the speed limit

I posted a comment in August about this issue and at that time there were just a few comments about this problem.. Seems like now this issue has exploded! I find I have no trust with the sensor reliability. Some time it works and sometimes not. and when it does work, it seems the sensor range doesn't detect a vehicle or person until they are almost on top of me

Famous figures like Gary Brecka have suggested that "Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort," implying that this constant seeking of ease can accelerate the aging process and weaken the body. Instead, embracing intentional discomfort can build resilience, foster personal development, and lead to a more fulfilling life.

Enjoy all those Maverick comforts on the way to the gym not the fast food place.
Or the liquor store. :’P

No wait! scratch that last part.

I backed into a parked car yesterday - totally my fault of course. Luckily there was not a human opening her driver’s door at the time…I would have squished her:(

I got my drivers license in 1975. Learned to drive with my head on a swivel. Sure, I used my rear view mirrors as support but always depended on my forward vison to see what was behind, or next to me. I don't like rear sensors or cross traffic alerts and find them annoying most of the time. You can hear me saying "Yeah, yeah, I know there is something back there. I can see it." I never backed into anything, nor did anyone hit me. Because before I get in a vehicle I always check if a bike, or possibly a kid might be behind me. Then reverse slowly. We have become so lazy and dependent on technology to do even the simplest of things. Turn your head and use your gift of eyesight.
I got my license in 1962. I fondly remember driver's training, full sized Chevy, 3 other students in back seat & instructor in front, no seatbelts. Small town, Southern IL, learning to parallel park on "Main" street with the instructor grading you with paper on clipboard. Then some years later driving a panel truck with NO rear or side windows. You had to back up with only your side mirrors. Technology was your skill level, caution, & good senses.

Good day, and my two cents...maybe even three.

I am one of the drivers that:

1 I intensely dislike parking where everyone else parks their vehicles. Close to the entrance of stores, malls, Canadian Tire...in the rows directly in front of the entrances to restaurants.

This is where people in a big hurry and maybe don't like their trucks, park and race into and out of, ripping through the lanes looking for a spot ever closer to the door.

2 I don't back into anything (except our driveway and then garage...so we never have to back onto a roadway. This is due to not trusting other drivers).

When you back up in these instances, you are in complete control of the area and have clear sightings before moving rearward.

I park far away in parking lots and always use a pull through spot, or if I have to, I back into a wide and distant parking spot.

This is not a guarantee, but will skew the probabilities in your favour...and did you take a pic of the 2 trucks around you? Could have added it to the thread here of big trucks around our Mavericks!

Yes, my wife is long suffering but has accepted it as we keep our vehicles as nice as possible. Even in the dead of winter!

There you go, sorry to hear of this costly incident.

Andy

I have a '23 XLT with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and I have noticed the same. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The same thing happens on my Toyota C-HR which has the same feature. I'm not sure what the problem is but you just have to be more vigilant when backing up. I pretend I'm in a vehicle that doesn't have that feature. The back-up camera helps a little.
I did learn how to drive back in the 60's that's the way to drive, you don't need no back up sensors
