Agreed an exorcism may be in order.
Regarding comments about the Maverick being a cheap car..... to me $25k is not "cheap"
Compared to $50k it is more "affordable" but does that mean there should be no expectation of quality?
A Seiko watch is "cheap" compared to a Rolex, but there is still an expectation that the Seiko will perform its primary function without needing constant repairs.

Over all I dont think that it's a fair assumption that all or most Mavericks will have alot of issues. I also have an early production XL EB. I currently have 44k on it and I have no issues. In fact the only issue I've had was a faulty cv boot, which is the truck's or Ford's fault. Of course there were recalls, thats a give in..when we buy first edition vehicles.

It's a dash display setting you can turn on that shows when the vehicle is operating in electric, hybrid or regeneration mode, and has a dynamic bar graph display to act as a coach. My wife has fun trying to make sure she stays in the blue electric zone as much as possible, and has learned how to read the regen bar to make sure she always gets to 100% on the brake coach.
100% correct. did u have to talk her into paying attention to the EV coach or was it her idea? i have yet to convince my Darling Bride to give a flying you know what about that kind of stuff, sigh.

i'm sorta okay with it because she does have MANY other redeeming qualities that more than compensate.

but back to the topic at hand, the EV coach is my main instrument cluster display some 90% of the time when i'm behind the wheel.
my next task is to understand the power meter gage thats where a Tach usually goes. i'd like to believe that the Mav design team didnt give such a large & prominent piece of IP real estate to this gage without a good reason (i hope)., or maybe it was just put there for cosmetic reasons?( i sure hope not). i may be the dull knife in the drawer but Ford's explanation o

f this gage and what information it's trying to convey seems somewhat opaque to me.

I feel like the recalls arent a huge deal. I had the grabby brakes fixed and I'm about to get the airbag recall and engine grinding fixed ( hopefully) with this new TSB.

having said that, the rattles are driving me crazy. I have to look more into them bc the dealer cannot fix them.

I really love the truck and the practicality but I don't see myself owning it past 80,000 miles. It is a Ford after all :)

Wow, OP, that’s a lot of issues. Sorry you’ve had such a rough time with your XL Hybrid.

I’m hoping my XL EB will last a good long while, although I did have the master driver window switch flake out and leave the rear passenger window stuck down. Ford fixed it - but it took a month for the part to come in, so I was driving a brand new truck with a duct-taped window for a whole month.

But otherwise, I have 23k on it so far and am loving it as much as I did the day I bought it. Hope Ford can resolve your issues and you can have many trouble-free miles.

I have the dash rattle/buzzing on my XLT EcoBoost. Its friggin annoying. Not a peep until you get on bumpy roads. Then it's there. Turn up the fan motor speed to block it out, or turn up the radio. Mine has only 13K on it. This is the only issue. It's a late build 22 model. Regardless, you would think that they would beat the stuffing out of the preproduction test vehicles to find and solve these issues before handing these off to John Q Public.

I mean Chrysler learned that lesson the hard way in 1976 when they introduced the Plymouth Volare, Dodge Aspen to the public when the car was not adequately tested. People really wanted these cars, and ended up feeling tricked. Fenders rusting out within 2 years, engines stalling when making a turn, and a host of other B.S. Chrysler was obligated to fix these cars under warranty at a time when they could ill afford to do so. It soured many a customer on that brand. Bad news always travels fast.

Honestly the creaking dash and the easily scratched dark blue plastics are the only things that bother me. The plastics I am just very careful around including not letting my seat belt just smack the pillar when I remove it. The dash creaking and buzzing i find to be unacceptable in a truck with only 13K on it though. On a lot of my roads around here, a repave job consists of them spraying hot tar down and gluing pea gravel in it. This makes a rough vibrating ride. This is where the constant annoying buzzing comes from. I even emptied my glove box thinking it was something in there doing it. The creaking part comes from hitting bumps or imperfections.

If I grab ahold of the defogger vent slot and pull the dash back when driving on my rough assed pea gravel "paved" roads I can lessen the buzzing somewhat. I was going to make an appointment w the dealer for it to get fixed. But if there is no fix, then I have to deal with it. Heck my 1994 silverado dash doesnt even buzz like this, and its dried and cracked to hell, half the upper screw mount points are broken out lol.

This all being said, mine are minor compared to yours. Get moving on the lemon law paperwork, and make them take it back.

All I know is ford needs to get their shit together and get these things corrected quickly too. Dodge is coming out with a 4 door "Rampage" to compete in this segment in North America as early as possibly mid 2024. That mini truck they have is already in south america, and Toyota is mulling its options as well.

Not to dredge up an old thread, but I had to drop the hybrid off at the dealer again today.
Went to fuel up the other day and the gas door wouldnt open. Apparently fuel tank vent quit working so the door wont open if there is still pressure in the system.
I also am getting deep sleep messages almost everyday, and the radio keeps turning on randomly with the car off and the key out.
Of couse the service writer informs me that I am now outside of the bumper to bumper and I will be responsible for a $170 diagnose fee for each of these problems.
Hows that for a kick in the teeth.
Add these things to all the previous issues I have had, & All I can say is
P.O.S!

Just a little word of warning to those who are lurking and considering buying a maverick.
I have a very early 2022 XL hybrid that I took delivery on in Dec 2021 that is now approaching 40k miles.
I really wanted to like this little pickup but the mounting issues are really chipping away at my satisfaction and confidence.
These are the issues I have had to date. Some have been resolved and others are still lingering with no apparent solution.

Be prepared for ALOT of headaches. These things are trouble. I have had pretty much every problem known.

RESOLVED ISSUES
1. Engine fire recall. Complete. Ford actually came to my house to do repair
2. Airbag recall. Done at dealership and I even received a nice YETI tumbler for my trouble.
3. Remote start catalytic converter overheating. Done at dealership.
4. Grabby brakes @ low speed. Took a year and a half but Ford finally released a fix and it is much better. Still not 100% but I can live with it.
5. EGR System failure. Repaired at dealer under warranty.

UNRESOLVED:
1. Dash Rattle: Requested repair @ dealer, Noise cannot be replicated.
2. Battery drain due to vehicle staying powered up with key out: Sometime when turning off vehicle and removing key everything stays powered on. Vehicle cannot be driven but dash stays illuminated, heat/ac works, radio works, etc. Vehicle apparently stays in this mode until battery dies. IF you catch it and reinsert key condition goes away. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE
3. Customer satisfaction program 22B39 12v battery drain. WAITING ON PARTS
4. SAFETY RECALL 23S27 : Apparently the 1st fire recall fix is not sufficient. WAITING ON FIX FROM FORD
5. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION surge @ idle: In colder weather with car in drive but stopped, there is a surge that feels like the car is trying to move forward. It goes away after a short warmup, but it is a very unsettling feeling. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DRIVE CYCLE
6. Loud Engine rattle/shake: In cold winter temps once in a while with ICE engine running there is a very loud rattle coming from driver side engine bay. A very noticable shake is also present. Sounds Horrific. I have not been able to pinpoint where noise is coming from because when car is put in Park and I exit vehicle to investigate, ICE engine shuts down. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE
7. Electrical/weird issues: The other day I parked, turned off vehicle, key out and exited car. About a minute later the radio turned on at full volume and could not be turned off or down until the key was inserted and vehicle turned on. HAVE NOT BROUGHT TO DEALER. OUT OF WARRANTY
8. Vehicle routinely goes into deep sleep mode. Not sure that this is really a problem, but sometimes it happens multiple times per day.

All that being said there are things that I absolutely love about the Maverick. Its pleasant to drive, gets great fuel economy, and is fairly utilitarian.
I have 3 Ford products in my driveway and really want to stay a loyal Ford customer, but man this little Maverick is making that hard to do.

Frustrating start to day - over holiday period had a stress free journey from Berkshire to Wales in my M135i - no problems. Then this morning just popping out to shops I went to accelerate onto a dual carriageway and the Drivetrain warning light came on. Engine lost power and started running very roughly. Luckily I was near my local dealer so diverted there for them to take a look. Halfway to the dealer the alarm light goes out and car starts driving normally !!!! Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with a quick look but I have it booked in for proper service next week. I'm now nervous about driving too far :-( Just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar - maybe a software glitch ? Seems weird if something is actually faulty it has managed to cure itself ! Assume car is ok to drive with amber light.

The other weird thing is that when the dealer did a 'key read' it apparently said that the oil had exceeded maximum, although the car itself is showing oil to be fine.

May have better luck asking about this issue on a BMW forum. Good luck.
