I think the pricing for early models of the Maverick was really low on the XLs to ensure this new(but old concept) truck segment launched successfully and could make headlines for its entry price. Perhaps also to diminish potential early forseen issues like the recalls, though I may be giving them too much credit thereHybrid XL AWD is over $10K more than Hybrid XL FWD 2022.
For 2024 it seemed to have a following that made Ford confident enough to start to move the baseline price. I'm sad to say that they may still have room next year to press the bottom up when you look at how the feature set here compares against a base Prius etc.
Hopefully the auto market will continue to turn down and press things back a bit for us consumers. Potentially allow for lightly used mavericks to enter the market at more traditional used prices. For those of you who got an early hybrid and avoided issues, you got a smoking deal. Now even my FWD eco XL is a unicorn. I still wouldn't mind trading up to a hybrid AWD if deals are to be had in the future.
