Not me.
Back In the day the In Tank fuel pump was cooled by the gas in the tank.
We never, ever let our gas get below a quarter of a tank.
Running close to E could shorten the pumps life.

And trash in the tank was more likely to get sucked into the lines and clog the fuel filter sooner.

Again, old knowledge, may not apply anymore.

I’ve noticed the gas gauge to be inaccurate. As an example, when the gauge went down to the 3/4 full mark, I checked in the FordPass app and it said 85%.

I prefer a regular gauge like prior years. This one has a digital pointer that skips huge distances. Plus it’s set up in such a way that you think you’re on empty when you still have 2.5 gallons left. Nota fan of the new look. The screen is huge and there’s plenty of space for a traditional meter.

There maybe situations when you have to trust the information on your fuel level if your not near an exit when traveling long distances but I never push it normally since I’m going to have to fuel up anyways 🤷🏼‍♂️

Coming at it from a different perspective - - - You have a brand new truck that you paid good money for and you want to play the gas gauge game with it? Do you trust it? Not an issue. Just fill the darn thing up. :curse:

used to be and still do it here ... was never go below a quarter tank. Watching threads where people try to go to the last drop are funny to me ... What's that prove? You do not have to empty a tank to figure gas milage and where i live power goes out enough not to be the one stuck out of gas. Range will always be different depending on conditions.

Cheers

Yep, I learned the hard way back in the late 90's. I was in a meeting mid afternoon on a saturday at church, all of a sudden the pastor's assistant came in to get me, strange I thought. Once in the hallway, I got the news my father had a heart attack and I need to get to the hospital quickly. I had driven my wife's car that day, didn't get far before I noticed the gas gauge was at the empty mark. I panicked, thankfully a gas station was close by. Turned in almost on two wheels, started putting gas in, ran in and paid then quickly back on my way to the hospital, 10-15 miles away. Ran in to see him, he passed like 5 minutes before I got there. Stunned, there was alot I would have liked to say and talk about before the end.
Needless to say, no vehicle I own ever gets below 1/2 tank since then. You just never know what nor when critical events can take place.
Not at all meant to be a sad story. Just a thought, a reminder to for us to ponder, what is so important that causes us to push things to the limit?

It is not an issue to me because it tells you how many miles estimated until empty - can't get much more specific than that.

With 500 miles or so of range it is easy to fill up once every two weeks.

My gage, at 3/4 tank It tops off with 4.2 gallons,
At 1/2 a tank It fills with 8.8 gallons,
at 1/4 tank I can put 12.5 gallons

Maybe measuring liters instead gallons, being built Mexico?

In my younger days, I did stupid game with fuel gauge, always driven while low, and dare vehicle to run out of fuel. Hop up 283 w 4 barrel.

Piloted my own plane. Trained myself that on cross country flight, every time landed, to top off tanks no matter how much fuel in it.

Sorta carried that scheme to my vehicles on long trips.
Like my F250 diesel truck, the Mav gauge would fall rapidly from Full to maybe 3/4 mark. Then could drive on and on till read maybe 1/4 - 3/8 mark, then fall rapid. I contributed that to tank shape. Coke bottle dump effect.

I must be immune. Never had anything bad happen to me or my vehicles and routinely run the tank to "empty". More efficient with my time. I plan my trips and know when we need to fill up early if there's a long stretch w/o services, or if gas prices are higher where we are heading, etc.

People that refuel at 1/2 tank or even always by 1/4 - how do you feel about oil changes? I'm pretty sure I know the answer 🤣

Never have I heard of anyone burning up a fuel pump due to low gas. Never ever.

The crap in the tank is still in the tank whether it’s full or empty If it’s in the bottom of the tank, the fuel pump might suck it in. If your tank is full, the fuel pump doesn't suck gas higher up in the tank. Therefore the amount of fuel and crap in a tank are not related
