You will see once The engine starts it will then run until it reaches operating temperatures (two bars in the first gen Lariat). When cold, the mode is made more obvious by increased vibration.

I live on a hill and can coast a couple of miles. There is no need for the engine to run, but when it starts it “warms up” before shutting back off again. It will stay in that temperature range and not cool off.

It sure looks like Ford thought this out and manages the cycle. The displays on the Maverick are not as informative as some hybrids, or even some Fprds. It just works.
Perhaps the information you are looking for is on the "Power Flow " screen. It will report a condition, though fleeting, "Engine on due to Normal Operation". This would be exclusive of Engine on driving the wheels or providing heat to the cabin or charging the Hybrid Battery.

Hybrid: That's why I use Mobil-1 hybrid specific 0w-20 oil. If you read about it, it has more of the additives that fight moisture, corrosion etc. that building up in the hybrid 2.5L ICE engine due to low operating temperature.
I would consider the Hybrid specific oil to be ideal for all Plug-in Hybrids and regular hybrids that are used mostly for short trips in the city where the engine seldom reaches full operating temperature. For regular hybrids that drive longer drives and get to full temperature on a regular basis, the Mobil1 Advanced Fuel Economy is probably equally appropriate.

I just purchased a 2025 Hybrid Maverick. My first hybrid.

My son has a Jeep Wrangler 4XE. His Jeep monitors the engine use. When the engine goes a certain period of time without being operated at operating temperature it goes into what they call "FORM" mode. (Fuel/Oil Refresh Mode) FORM is because your oil is calculated to be diluted with fuel because it hasn't reached full operating temp for long enough periods of time, or your fuel has gone too long between being filled with fresh fuel.

Ford doesn’t have this.

Wouldn’t the oil get diluted with fuel and other contaminants in the 2.5 and would this not increase engine wear? According to the engine temperature gauge in my Maverick, it hardly ever gets past the "blue" section. Also, the experts say that engine wear occurs most at start up and when the oil is cooler, wouldn’t this also cause more wear and tear on the engine?

I have read where Ford states that they fully expect the hybrids to go 200,000 plus miles. Just some interesting things to think about. I will probably change my oil a little more frequently than in my other vehicles.

For those of you familiar with this platform, does Ford have some technology built in to keep premature wear from happening?
I think it's okay, especially with the new oils. If any doubts do a little road trip on the highway once in awhile.

random non-ford related things are not that relevant. you can search here for high mileage hybrids, as well as wherever you want to read up on the escape and fusion hybrids that existed a long time before the maverick.

they don't have a starter and they use 0w20 oil. there are other adaptions.

I have seen mileage life of new cars range anywhere from 60k to 150k miles, because they tend to get totaled before they hit 150k or much higher. so just maintain your new hybrid well and the odds are overwhelmingly that you'll be fine for a long time.
Or, you'll total it.

they seem be identically priced at walmart in 5 gallon jugs at $28.97.
I’m assuming you mean the 5 quart jug :)
I recently picked up Mobil 1 0W20 AFE in the 6 quart box for $31 on sale at Costco.
The 6 quart box lets you do a full oil change and have 1/3 of a quart left over. Costco does not carry the Hybrid specific version.
The 5 quart jugs would drive me crazy, being just short of the amount you need for an oil change….

Since the fuel tank is pressurized, how is moisture getting in the fuel system. This is not your father's truck from 20 to 30 years ago. I have never had moisture buildup in my crankcase from the atmosphere.
Water is a combustion byproduct. It's why water and steam comes out of your exhaust.

Back when the Prius was about it for hybrids I worked with a guy who drove about 60,000 miles a year in his Prius.
He changed the oil at 15,000 mile intervals using Mobil 1 extended.
He needed a bigger vehicle so at 350,000 miles he gave it to his wife for grocery getter, soccer mom duty. They had to change the batteries once for about $2,000 I think it was.
One day they had crossed the half million mile mark. All the while doing
50-55 mpg.
It still ran fine.
He made the comment once, ”I rarely see the temp gage come up”
It had a bladder tank like on Cart and Formula one cars.

Which doesn't seem to exist on the 2025s. Not that I can find anyway.

Buying a 5 qt. jug and a 1 qt. bottle is a short drive. 😁

Yep, use that screen to maximize EV time.

The Teslas (we own a few) break down the power output in granular detail. Want to know how much more power it takes to run the AC at 68 or 72? It tells you.

On the AWD versions the truck is measuring and allocating the torque at all 4 wheels. I think some of the more off road versions of Ford's products and the Lightning have a display that shows the power distribution at each wheel. Not needed but it is fun to nerd out on.

It is called condensation and you wouldnt really see it unless you send your oil in to be analyzed.
If it gets bad enough, you’ll be able to tell…
My ‘06 Canyon got “yellow sludge” buildup under the oil cap; It was apparently condensation from taking very short trips in the winter. Went away when I started taking longer trips.
